Chapter 1

I woke up to the sound of my dad's church music that's what you get when your the preachers daughter. I get up and I go to my bathroom and I Bluetooth my phone into my speaker and hop in the shower and jam to my favorite song 7/11 by Beyoncé. "Wave your hands side to side, put it in the air

(I know you care)" I sing while I'm in the shower. "Ta'risha turn that mess off now!" My dad said in an anger voice. We go threw this every morning I play my music he yells at me and I go to school. "Ugh ok dad" I say. I go to my room and I put my clothes on and do my hair and make up. "I'm gone dad" I say trying to rush out the door. " Come back honey that's not a proper way to say good bye" he said. "Sorry daddy I'm trying to get to school" I tell him. "Honey why do you why do you wear that make up I think you look beautiful the way you are". " I just like to wear it daddy" I say. "Well ok have a good day at school and make sure your focus." "Ok ok daddy I get it." I say.

I get to school around 11:30 because I only have 2 classes because I'm a senior and my father extra classes durning the summer. I love my father but I feel like his rules on me are a little to strict. I feel like my high school and teenage life is going straight pass me, I'm 17 years old and still haven't been to a party.

I'm walking to my second block class and bump into Janet. " hay booo" she say. I laugh while saying " hay naynay why you always loud?" "Because boo everybody got to know who I am and where I'm at" she say. I laugh and we walk to class.

After second block me and Naynay drive my car to McDonalds. "So girl I heard there's a big party to night at Lisa house" says Naynay. Lisa is a known girl who's always throwing party's at her house at the end of the night police always coming and braking them up well at least that's what I hear. "Naynay now you know my daddy ain't gone let me go to know part specially Lisa." I say giving her that "girl please" look. "Come on T it's senior year you can't be the good preacher daughter forever." Naynay said. You know what that got me thinking I can't just let my life pass me by anymore. "Your right Nay" I said. " Honey I know I am what you think I'm here for." We start laughing "Just tell preacher Johnson that your staying over mines this weekend." She say. "But what am I going to wear?" I ask knowing I don't have any clothes for a party. "Don't worry about that I got you just make sure you get to my place around 8 so I can get you ready" Naynay say.

When I got home I walked into the living room to see daddy reading his bible. "Hi daddy" "Hi honey how was your day at school ?" "It was good" I say. "But dad I wondering if I could go over Janet house this weekend" I ask nervously. He take his glasses off and stop reading. "Now Ta'risha you know I don't like you hanging around her she's to wild" he say giving me a look. " But dad she's my best friend" I say giving him my puppy dog eyes. "Well ok, but stay straight over there" he say with a stern look. "I know daddy" I say pecking him on his cheek.

I go up to my room and pack all my stuff up for Naynay house not knowing that tonight was going to be a big change.
