"Your trembling"

Maki flinched and turned around, heart beating and breath shaking. Ruby was at the door, watching her with concern and came over to her side. Maki looked away, not wanting to show her friend any weakness, miserably failing.

. They were both in the Palace of Magma. After a perilous journey from the Wastelands to the Volcanic Lands to reunite Rory to the Queen of the Moltenscales, they were all settled in the guest bedrooms, Stitch, and the rest in the other room. They've stayed here for almost a month now, getting used to the place. The beds (Or tbh they were more like nests) were surprisingly cozy. But that didn't calm Maki's anxiety and beating heart. Everywhere she looked down through the window, Moltenscales were everywhere, walking through the streets, and although she knew they wouldn't hurt her, it still gave her intense fear. Trauma is something that isn't healed in an instant after all.

"No I-I'm fine Ruby. I'll be fine". Maki said, trying not to show that she was on the brink of having a panic attack. Of course Ruby just looks to her with a knowing look and a 'No your not fine' look.

".......". Ruby was looking at her with a quiet, judging look. Ruby was a silent observer, Maki knew. Sometimes she doesn't know what she's thinking in that closed and guarded mind. It's what Maki finds a bit......intimidating about Ruby if she gotta be honest.

Then Ruby slowly and with calculated precision brought out her hands towards Maki. Slowly cupping her face in her palms. To Maki's own surprise, she doesn't flinch, like all the other times she's been touched unexpectedly or even expectedly. She always flinched.....but for some reason with Ruby......it was different.

"Do you want to sleep with me tonight?". Ruby asked softly. Maki blinked for a few moments then blushed, looking down.

Sleeping....with Ruby? Maki was never a cuddler. The last time she cuddled with someone....it was her Mother.....she missed her. She missed her family and pack. But right now Maki really needed some comfort, and if this was the comfort she will get...Fuck it.

"....o-ok". Maki finally said after a few moments, a little bit timidly then she should have but she doesn't really care at the moment.

Ruby smiled then started to lead them both to her room, which was just a few doors down from the guest rooms. Maki with her heightened werewolf hearing could hear Stitch and Rory in one of the guest rooms too, Oriel, Maple, and Torch must be sleeping at this point. Wonder what they're talking about in there.

They make it to Ruby's room, it had a crown symbol over a flame marked on the door. Ruby opens the door and leads Maki inside. Looking around, Maki is amazed at how clean and organized it is. It was a decent size room, fit for a princess. A giant desk with writing utensils and papers on it, Bookshelves full of books and scrolls on the far side, Ruby even had a balcony. Wow. Fancy.

Maki never really had the luxury of a room like this, let alone an actual place to sleep. Her "packmates" and Stitch's group usually would sleep out in the open or anywhere with a roof over their head, sometimes even a cave. She's pretty used to sleeping on the cold floor by now.

Maki was taken out of her gaze from a gentle tug from Ruby, signaling to follow her. Maki looked at Ruby's bed. It was decently huge, able to fit two people....her and Ruby. Ruby pulled the covers and slowly pushed Maki to the bed. Maki didn't complain that she was being led this time and crawled right onto the bed and lay there, Ruby right behind. She felt her cover her with the blanket, then they just....stared at each other for a bit.....eyes locked with emotions, unsure how to express.
