RECAP:

With a quick kiss to her lips, he crawled in behind her, pulling her back flush against his chest, wrapping himself around so snuggly that he couldn't even tell where she began from how small she was compared to him. Without much need to focus it, he warmed his skin, his body acting as a heater for her when his lips met the icy chilled skin of her shoulder.

She was so cold even he felt the chill of it.

Chato woke up to the room feeling way too cold to be normal, especially with the fact that he rarely ever got cold. It was so cold, even the tips of his fingers felt numb. Looking over at Wynter, his amber eyes widened. Her already pale skin was snowy white, lips a shade of blue that was clearly unhealthy and what looked to be ice coating parts of her bare skin. "Wynter!" Chato gasped, wrapping himself around her, hissing at the pain of her icy skin, before he internally warmed his temperature. He rubbed his hands up and down her arms, feeling the ice on her skin begin to melt off as steam rose off her body.

"Hmm?" She hummed sleepily, her eyelids felt heavy as a thin sheen of ice coated each lash. The cold sensation that covered her skin kept her sleepy and drowsy, her body's natural response to such low temperatures.

"You're too cold, come 'ere." Chato stressed, pulling the small woman closer to him as she nuzzled under his chin.

"Mmm, too hot though." Wynter whined quietly, trying to shift away from him. Steam rose off her skin everywhere he touched, the cold chill of her flesh biting into his skin, just as the raging heat from his burned into her own.

"Wynter, you're too cold." Chato whispered into her ear, "Look at yer hands." Chato rubbed her arms up and down, pulling her further into his embrace as she lazily cracked her eyes open to see just what he was talking about. Upon opening them, she was met with her breath puffing into a cold in front of her face, and her fingertips tinged blue and purple. She could just just barely feel the icy coolness that leaked from her skin, and while it seemed to bother Chato quite a bit, she herself was comfortable.

"What?" Wynter sat up quickly, wide awake at the realization that she looked as though she had hypothermia. "What happened to me? Why aren't you like this?" She questioned the flaming gangster behind her. Her internal panic had her turning around to look into his amber eyes, and she could feel the insane heat he was letting off in an attempt to fight off the chill from both their bodies that it seemed she was producing.

"Bebe, I think you're the one doin' this." Chat told her softly, trying to calm her down. Her eyes widened as her panicked state only seemed to further and worsen, her mind running circles as to how this could possibly be her. She was no meta-human like him, she couldn't do these types of things. She had no crazy medical accident that could have caused such a predicament and she most certainly was no alien life form from outer space. She was a regular, average human being with regular struggles and everyday stress. She was not a super human, and yet, she seemed to have this power.

"I, I can't be doing this! This is impossible! This is insane!" She said, her voice raising higher in pitch the more she spoke, "I'm not like you! I can't do stuff like this!" She shrieked.

"Is what I am botherin' you?" Chato asked her softly.

She looked into those glowing eyes of his, and while she could see anger in them, she could also see the hurt that her statement must have caused him. "No, Chato, no. What you are, what you can do, it doesn't bother me, it doesn't disgust me. I'm not afraid of you, or your power. What I'm afraid of, is myself." She answered him honestly, and the raw emotion of her voice shook the anger out of him as he looked at her.

"Why would you be scared of yourself?" He asked, moving closer to her as he pulled her into his lap. His hands held her cheeks so she'd look into his eyes as she held him by the front of his shirt.

"If, if I'm doing this, I don't know how to control this. I don't know why this is even happening. I wasn't born with this like you were, I don't know how to manage something like this." She took in a shaky deep breath before she continued, tears streaming down her pale, cold cheeks as her emotions slowly got the better of her. Chato gasped as her once ( your eye color) orbs slowly clouded over into a steel blue. Her lips, once returning to their usual plush pink color, he watched as they paled into an almost white, then blue hue. Her skin paled, the tone ashen and cool to the point that her cheeks had no pink blush to them like normal.

It burned, it burned so damn bad touching her as tears fell down her face, freezing on her skin half way down. His skin felt like it was being frozen and peeled off, layer by layer the longer she held onto him. It felt like absolute hell but he refused to let her go, the state she was in was terrifying, for her, and for himself. There was nothing he could do for her except to keep raising his body temperature in hopes it would fight off her own newfound power.

Her lashes held an icy sheen from her tears, her eerily milky white eyes stared into his own blazing ones, "Chato, I'm so scared. I don't know what I'm becoming."
