Strawberry Shortcake

Why write a fanfiction about two boys who aren't actually together or real at all? Because I need to feel something again. Just kidding. Unless.

Okay this story is mainly going to be every headcannon between them I've ever thought of, all into a couple short chapters. Also it's going to switch back and forth quite a lot between their different thoughts. I honestly love both the characters and couldn't stick with one to get into the headspace of. Sorry. Kind of.

The bell rang after the final period, and Yamaguchi walked outside to go meet his best friend.

"Tsukki" Yams called to his friend loudly, immediately regretting it, as other heads turned in his direction. He felt heat rising into his face and turned his head to his hands. Tsukki nodded and joined him on their walk home.

"Why is your face so red." Tsukishima asked dryly.

"N-no reason."

"Stop worrying about what other people think, they don't care about you."

"Oh, right." The green-haired boy responded as he kicked a pebble. Right, who cares if I'm always messing up, that I can't do a single thing right. I really need to be careful in the future. He thought to himself.

Tsukki sighed, "Come on, don't be lame. The only opinions that should ever matter are people that care about you." These words rang in Yamaguchi's ears for what felt like a long time, as if the world stopped.

"Wow Tsukki, you're so cool." Yam's face brightened and turned to face the blonde haired boy. Coming from a cold salt grain like Tsukki, those words mean a lot more than anyone.

"Yeah." Tsukki responded, immediately turning red after making eye contact.

"I have some leftover strawberry shortcake at my house, if you'd like." Yamaguchi laughed. Tsukishima nodded and Yams joyfully led him to his house.

He's always doing things for me. Tsukki thought as he watched Yams smile and look at the sky above them. He watched as the night reflected onto his eyes above his freckles. Those sweet, sweet, freckles. He suddenly had the urge to touch his face or hold his hand. Shit, I've seen too many romance movies, what a joke. He fidgeted with the cord of his headphones and kept walking.

Yamaguchi knew well how much Tsukki loved strawberry shortcake, and took a liking to it himself. He always bought some for 'himself' when in reality, he always got it for Tsukki to share with him. He loved to share with Tsukki because he had done so much for him.

"Your blocking was really good today. You even stopped Hinata's quick!" Yams exclaimed and took the last bit of the cake from the counter. Why is Tadashi always so nice. He never stops complimenting me or taking care of me. Kei thought as he watched Yamaguchi cut the last piece in half.

"Only because Hinata's so short. He's the size of middle school girls."

"His voice is so high, he could probably pass as one." Yamaguchi laughed and served Tsukishima the larger half of the cake.

"Thanks."

"Here, I know you love these." Yams picked off the strawberries and placed them on Tsukki's plate. "By the way, do you think my serving is getting any better? I've been practicing a lot more."

"Nishinoya couldn't get the last one, so I'd say they're improving." Tsukki said between bites of the shortcake. He could never get tired of it, even though he had eaten it many times. He didn't know why, but Yamaguchi was always giving him good words and shared almost everything with him. He didn't remember a time without the green-haired boy by his side.

They enjoyed their cake as they talked together about school, volleyball, and their teammates. Yamaguchi loved listening to Tsukki talk so highly about volleyball. He had gained so much passion for it over the season. Every time Kei scored points for his team at a competition, his eyes glistened and Tadashi could feel his pride radiating off of his body. The same thing happened whenever Yamaguchi scored too. They would always make eye contact, immediately after either had scored.

After Tsukishima returned home, both boys couldn't get each other out of their heads. They both racked their favorite memories of being together and replayed them before they drifted off into sleep.

------------------------------------------

It's a short chapter, I know, but I was curious if people would even read it. Don't worry, later chapters will be longer and have more of a plot to it.
