"All you need is faith, trust and a little pixie dust."

I heard footsteps coming towards me. I was still struggling with getting my suitcases through the narrow hallway.
"You must be my new roommate." I looked up and I saw a girl with long brown hair and a slim body standing in front of me.
"I guess so. I'm Alison."
"Hi, I am Gemma and welcome to the building." Without asking so took one of my suitcases and walked to the living room, which was quite big. The living room had a nice light blue colour. The room was filled with a black couch, a table and plasma TV hanging on the wall. Attached to the living room was the kitchen, which looked small, but probably is big enough for the two of us to cook in.
"So, this is the living room and the kitchen. If you go to the hallway you'll find 3 doors: the first one to your left is the bathroom, the second one the left is my room and the first one on the right will be your room."
"Do you mind if I stay in my room for a while to settle in? It has been a long day and I wasn't prepared for an apartment with someone already in it, no offense." I felt a little bit awkward saying this to someone I just met.
"Ah, miss H didn't tell you that you had a roommate?" She gave me a quick smile.
"Miss H?"
"Miss H is the woman who you had contact with before you rented the room and she gave you the keys when you came in."
"Oh, you mean the toad lady." I started laughing. "No, she didn't tell me before I came here. She did tell me when I got here."
"Toad lady?" Gemma started laughing as well. "I don't mind if you stay in your room for a while to settle in. I'll see you at dinner then."
"Thanks." While I walked away I heard her grin and say toad lady again.

My new room was spacious, it has a nice queen size bed, a desk and a normal sized closet. I put my suitcases on my new bed and I tried to give all my stuff a new place in this room. When I was finished I unlocked my phone and called my mom.

"Hello? Alison?"
"Hi, mom, I'm here."
"And how is it? Did everything go well?"
"Yes, everything went fine. Only the landlord is really rude and I have a roommate.”

“A roommate? I thought that you applied for your own apartment.”

“I did, but something must have gone wrong. Gemma is really nice though.”

“Well, that’s all that matters. How is the apartment?”

“It’s quite nice. The living room and my room are big, so, I like that.”

“That’s good to hear.”

“How are you doing? Now that I’m gone.”

“It’s very quiet now that I’m the only person living in this house, but I’ll manage. Honey, I’ve got to hang up, okay?”

“Okay, bye mom.”

“Call me if you need anything.”

“I will.”

I hung up the phone and looked around the room, correction, my room. I never thought that I would do such a thing… Packing all of my stuff and just move to London and leave my mom all alone. I sighed. Well, I’m here now, I might as well make the best out of it.
