"This hurts like hell Ava. Talking to you right now, hurts so much. Do you know that? Do you even care?" She doesn't say anything. "You broke up with me, remember. Now you come up to me and try to talk to me after I see you kissing someone else. After everything we have been through." he started to cry. "I spent 3 years trying to make you- you know what; nevermind." Ava said, "No babe. I-" "DON'T YOU EVER CALL ME BABE EVER AGAIN!"
That was the loudest thing he said during his heart wrenching rant. Everything was dead quiet after that. Everyone in the hall, including myself circled around the second most popular couple in the school. You can tell he really did love her. Ava just looks shocked and confused. Probably because he made a scene and she didn't want that to happen. Her status of popularity just went straight down the toilet. I don't know Ava that well, I didn't know she could be a cheater.
The guy she kissed was the linebacker on the football team, I guess she felt guilty and broke up with him. Now he is devastated, and I think Ava is just trying to calm him down, trying to avoid people watching this. Everything she tried didn't work. Everyone in the hall didn't even make a peep. No one coughed, hiccuped, sneezed. Everyone is looking at the now broken up couple. Ava still tried everything to get his attention and to look at her, but he just kept his face in his hands. He cried silently. She finally gave up. She ran out of the circle, people making a path way for her. I thought it was hers' high heels I heard in the distance, but they were the principal's footsteps. No one had time to scattered.
We turned around when we heard the principal's voice boom through the hall, "What is going on here?" We turn to the middle of the circle we form ourselves to see that he has disappeared. I don't know him that well. He was a popular guy. He wasn't mean to anyone, he didn't play sports either.
I get to my classroom and walk to my seat. I always imagine myself somehow going out of this window. Escaping. I pass the time in class; doodling. The class ends and I stand up, exiting, the boring class of math. The rest of the day went by like the day before, and the day before that. At the end of the day I drive off of school grounds.
I park in my usual spot, next to my friend Bianca, at the coffee shop. "Hey stunning." Bianca says to me. "Hello, good looking." I reply to her. Bianca is a couple years older than me. She has flaming red hair, a piercing in her nose, and multiple tattoos on her body. She's wearing our coffee shop uniform, dark green t shirt and a brown apron over it. She is also wearing blue jeans with her black converse. I change quickly in the worker's bathroom and get to work. Bianca works the drive through while I cover the people in the store. I take care of some college students and then I see some people from my high school. Yes, I knew taking this job I was going to probably see people from my high school, especially since this is the closest coffee shop from school. I serve them with a blank stare. I should be more customer friendly but oh well, and they don't seem like they care; they just want the coffee that I'm making them. If it counts, I was friendly to those college dudes.
Also usually, I am the person making the coffee. Justin, my co-worker is usually the friendly face that people see when they come in. He's not here at the moment. Justin is another person I would probably call my friend. He's tall, has black hair like mine, wears a green beanie a lot, older than me, and has an eyebrow ring on his left eyebrow. "I'm here. I'm here. I'm sorry I'm late." Oh thank holy cheesecake! "Where do you need me?" Justin asks. "Right here. Right here." I tell him, having him take my place behind the cash register.
"Alright. Who's next?" he excitedly. A girl from my high school, I think her name's Daisy. She orders a banana smoothie. I make it quickly for her. The next one orders a cup of coffee with... extra sugar." She pronounces the word 'sugar' slowly so we could check on it. Justin and I stare at each other for a moment. I start making her coffee and then quickly put in a couple ounces of alcohol. I walk over to the counter top where customers wait and hand the 18 year old girl named Penny her cup of coffee.
"I will have the same thing as her." the next person in line says. "With extra sugar?" Justin asks... The kid that just ordered looks 15 and very familiar. I just can't put my finger on it. But I have seen him in freshman classes, hanging around with other freshmen. The 15 year old nods his head, confirming he wants... extra sugar. Justin gives me a hesitant look, but I still make the coffee. I hand the customer the coffee. He takes the cup from me and turns around to walk to his friends. I see him take a sip of his drink and after a moment he stands up hurriedly, turns back around and comes back to the counter where I am standing out.
"I thought I asked for extra sugar." he says with grit teeth. He's trying to act tough. Pl-ease. This kid doesn't look mean in the slightest. He does have a little muscle though. I say these words very sweetly.
"You want extra sugar there is some at the cart over there." I point to the mini cart we have displaying napkins, a garbage, actual sugar packets, along with cream and spoons. He looks mad. I honestly have never given a 15 year alcohol, at least I never think I did.
He starts talking furiously, "Where's your manager?" "Out." I simply put. His mouth opens but words never come out, because Daisy, the one who got the smoothie, pulls on his shirt. "Just forget it." He looks down at Daisy. Them both staring at each other. In the end Daisy won. "Let's go." I watch as Daisy and him leave.
Through the glass window, I see Daisy look at me for a very quick second. She mouths the words, 'thank you.' The other customers stare at me with rudeness. I roll my eyes and get back to work. At the end of my shift, I change back into my regular clothes and Justin comes up to me. "I think what you did today with that boy was cool. It can get hard serving those types of drinks." "It was fine." I tell him blankly.
Shortly after I go into the worker's 'break room'. I walk over to our cubbies and bend over to get my bag and my car keys, meanwhile Bianca comes up from behind me and slaps my behind. I don't even gasp when she does it. I make a joke out of it, "What? You can't do that to your own girl?" I ask with a raised eyebrow. She copies my actions, "She's spending the week with her family because it's her dad's birthday, and now I'm horny."
"Well you just have to wait until she comes back." I tell her. Swirling the keys on my finger. "But I don't want to wait." she whines. "Yes you do. You love Natalie." "Yes, I do. I very much do."
"Are you on something?" I ask her. "Yes I am. I very much am." she says giggling. I roll my eyes. "Oo I have an idea." Bianca claps her hands together excitedly. "What?" I ask in the kindest way. I already know this idea is going to be stupid. "How about I use you? As you know my...toy for just tonight." she says.
"Okay, first thing you love Natalie. Wait for Natalie. Second of all, we both know that I would be the one using you." I point to her. Bianca now has a pouty face. "Come on." I drag her to the door. "I will take you home."
On the way to her apartment she was giggling nonstop and it was very annoying. She would also say stupid stuff like, "Justin is like a green pig. He wears that green beanie and eats bacon a lot... Wait, that's not wrong. It would be Justin is like a... shiny yellow tooth, because you know like his piercing." she giggles. "It's shining," giggles again. She also talked about Natalie. "I miss Natalie. I miss her hair. Her hair smells like apples. Yum... I want to eat those apples. Oh and her lips. I miss those lips a lot and her ton-"
"Okay we are here!" I say relieved, as I park the car right in front of her apartment complex. I help her get out of the car and shut and lock the door behind her.
Let's she say she doesn't live in the nicest neighborhood. No one here sells lemonade on the sidewalks or rides their bikes.
I help Bianca get into her apartment, with her keys. I lay her on her bed. I set a glass of water on her bedside table. "Good night Bianca." I say to her. "Night stunning." I hear her mumble. I leave her snoring up a storm. I lock the door from the inside, shutting the door quietly behind me.
