Akari and Konoha were best friends. Or so she thought. For months, years, she thought that they were inseparable. The thing was, the friendship was only one sided. Akari was the only one that enjoyed hanging out with Konoha. She played volleyball with him, but he only got irritated because she was so bad. He never told her though.
Elementary was a rough few years for Konoha, he was always being bombarded with the overly joyful Ito Akari. Her bubbly personality was always around him, and eventually he got tired of it.
"You're so dumb! Have you really thought that we were friends this entire time? I can't take you anymore. You suck at volleyball and you never leave me alone!" Konoha snapped at Akari on their last day of school.
Akari froze. She backed off him and looked into his eyes. Her smile fading.
"Oh, bu-" she didn't get to finish.
"Leave me alone, I hate you."
'I hate you.' was the last thing Konoha said before leaving her at the front of the school.
[a/n: now that's some drama]
Middle school came. Konoha had gone to a different school than Akari. She was originally planning on going to the same school, but after what he said, she couldn't face him. During her middle school years she didn't make new friends, in fear of being the same burden to someone else. Her happiness walked out the door, she wasn't as bubbly and energetic. By her third year she had completely dropped the act of being happy and outgoing. Her classmates started to notice her cold and blunt personality. No one knew who she was in elementary school, but as the middle school years past they noticed the change. No one would dare approach her because she was now pretty intimidating.
Konoha's words had impacted her choice in sports. She was now a well known volleyball player for her school and travel team. She pushed herself through tough practices everyday. Trying her absolute best in everything she did. Even though there was no guarantee she's ever see her childhood "friend" again, she wanted to prove him wrong.
"Ito, can you help the first years with their defense?" the team captain of her school team asked.
Akari looked at her with a bored expression. Her narrow eyes staring a hole into the first years. All of them jumping back because of their upperclassman's cold gaze.
"I'm not a libero, ask someone else," she replied before leaving the gym. It was already late, she had practiced her hardest earlier and didn't feel like using the little patience she had left for her team.
High school was going to be different. Her first year she earned a spot on the girls' volleyball team as the setter. But in the middle of the season she was put into the opposite position as well since their hitter got injured. Like in middle school, she lead her team to many victories. During her club season her small, unknown team became known as one of the best in Tokyo and even went to Nationals.
"Come on, Ito-san, we just won the semi-finals. You should be happy," the team captain said trying to get her to smile.
Akari just kept looking at her bag as she put her gear away. "We have a game tomorrow. Focus on that."
The rest of the team just looked at her. They had become used to her dry personality and the way she's always looking ahead. It came in handy during a game, but they were worried for the girl. All she focused on was volleyball and school. She never seemed to have fun. Not to mention, they've never seen the girl break a smile or even laugh.
"Akari, you need to loosen up. I saw who we're playing next, we're sure to win," another player came over to speak.
Akari picked up her bag and turned, ready to head out, "Victory is never certain. Don't underestimate our next opponent."
They knew it was true. They needed to focus on the next match...but after they get dinner.
The next day they lost to that same club. They thought it was certain victory. Akari didn't seemed fazed by the loss, but inside she was beating herself up. She had messed up some of their combinations and some of her hits got blocked. It wasn't a good game for any of them.
Her second year of high school she once again played for her school team. This time they went to Nationals but lost in the quarter finals.
The day after their loss, Akari had gone to the gym and practiced non-stop. Her teammates knew she was angry, she was one of the people that would hide their emotions with other things. For Akari it was practice. But this went on for more than a day. Everyday after school, even when their season was over, her team would find her practicing in the gym until nightfall.
"Akari, you're overworking yourself," the captain had said. Akari didn't stop and kept serving. Each one with more force than the last.
Her team didn't understand why she was so frustrated. She wasn't a third year. She still had another year to win Nationals. What they didn't know that this was her last year at that high school. This was her last week before she went to the high school she hated most. Not because of classes, but because of someone she knew there.
The night before her move, Akari didn't sleep. She was busy thinking about what she could do to get out of going to the school. They didn't have a girls' volleyball club, which just angered her more. She would be in a different travel club, they were already known for being a powerhouse, so she didn't have to worry about bringing the team up.
Finally the day came. It was the day she'd be attending her new school.
'This is only for one year, Akari. Just one year. It'll be fine, just focus on volleyball, that's it.'
The move in was simple. Akari was ready for school within a few days. She had her uniform, she knew her route, and her classes.
Now, she stood in front of the school she wanted to avoid. There's no going back. She walked up to the gates and read the large sign that stood in front of the school.
"Fukurodani Academy"

Please excuse the grammar/spelling mistakes. I'm literally writing this as the ideas come into my head.__________
Konnichiwa! Author-chan here! Wow, first part ? I wrote that a/n a while ago, so this is more updated. All my chapters are about 1k words, so they're pretty long. I hope you don't mind.
I'm not sure if I want to continue this. I have all the drafts already saved I just need to go over them. If you want this continued go ahead and leave a comment because I'll be happy to share more of my terrible writing :D
Feel free to comment any other character ideas you have for me and I'll pick one or two to start some new stories. I'm thinking of a Atsumu or Ennoshita story next. I'm not completely sure. Or maybe someone from BNHA. Anyway, happy reading! :)
