Between World's

Chapter #1: The Beginning

I can't believe this is happening. My so called friend betrayed me, and I am starting to lose my girlfriend as well. My girlfriend's name is Jessy Snow and my so called "best friend's" name is James Gates. My name is Joshua J. Known to many as JJ, or Javi.

It all started two years ago when I got into my new high school after graduating from middle school. I didn't know anyone, the majority of my friends who studied at the Hemeterio with me were going to Ponce High School.

It was August 4, 2012.

I entered my first day in high school as a Freshman. I was a tad late, school starts at 8:00 sharp, and I got in at 8:10, because I got lost on my way to the classroom. I didn't know where it was. I went to the office and asked for directions to Advanced Class 202, but the director of the school was too busy, and so were the police guarding the school. In the end, I just ended up walking past every class, looking at their numbers. When I found it, I could hear the teacher talking from outside.
'The first day of school and someone hasn't shown up. How irrespon-'
I barged into the classroom, interrupting her. She immediately went silent, and I walked up to her desk.
'I'm sorry I'm late, I was lost. I have never been to this school before and I didn't know where to go.' I told her. She looked me over and said: 'Joshua is the name, right, boy?'
I nodded, and replied: 'And your name is Mrs...?'
'Nieves. Mrs Nieves. Now sit down, I'll have a word with you later.'
So I obeyed and sat down while she passed attendance.

My life has never been normal. I've been able to see spirits since I was young. I've also been able to enter the spiritual world by separating my soul from my body. To me, the spiritual world was like the normal world, but more striking. I daresay better than the world of the living. It was amazing how the spirits talked to you and treated you, but like humans, not every spirit was kind. Some spirits would try to get to the physical world, just to scare people to death, or killing them in such a way their death seemed natural.

Mrs Nieves stood up and told the class: 'Good morning, students. I'll be your History teacher from today on.'
While she spoke, I couldn't help but notice her strange aura. Maybe I could enter the spirit world while she's speaking. I raised my hand and asked: 'May I please be excused?'
'But Joshua, I'm just about to start class!' she replied.
'It'll be fast, Mrs Nieves, I promise.' I stood up and left the classroom. When I got a little further away from the classroom, I started looking around for a tree or another quiet comfortable place. When leaving the physical world, I have to leave my material body behind, so I always leave it someplace comfortable.

I'm running through the halls in search for a quiet place in school. I finally found a place next to a cherry blossom. I sat down against the tree and meditated. It always takes 2 minutes of meditation before my soul separates itself from my physical body. 2 Minutes later, I stood before my body, in the spiritual world. I went back into the school, but a sense of uneasiness hit me when I couldn't find room 202.

While I was walking, I felt a hand on my shoulder and someone asked: 'What are you looking for, JJ?'
Startled, I turned around. I recognized that voice. The person standing in front of me now is my childhood friend who died in a fire when we were little. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I did my best to push them back. I managed a whisper: 'Angel, is that you?'
'Yes, JJ. It's me.' She replied with the warm smile I remember on her face.
But, she was different. She's grown, and her scars are gone.
'I'd love to talk to you, Angel, but I need to find room 202.' I told her. Her face turned purple with fear at the mention of room 202, but she calmed down and asked: 'How did you get here, JJ? You didn't...die, did you? And why are you looking for that room?'
'Do you remember when we were little, I used to tell you how I could see things and go places you couldn't imagine... Well, here I am.' I replied.
'JJ, the room you are looking for is where the evil spirits go. Right now, there's only the demon who gives the spirits classes, but he hasn't been himself lately. I'll lead you there if you must go.' She solemnly said.
'Let's go, Angel.'
