Nie Huaisang was fragile.

Well... That was what everybody thought. After all, he was dubbed as the "headshaker" by everybody that met him for a reason. He was a good for nothing in the eyes of an outsider, a mere man who cannot handle even the slightest hint of conflict.

At the first sight of him, one would think that he was delicate, that he was someone who you want to protect from the evil in this world. He was all sunshines and smiles. That is... Only outside of his work. When Huaisang puts on his coat and finishes his morning coffee, the delicate good for nothing headshaker suddenly becomes something else. He was proud of it, taking advantage of his weak persona to trick both innocent people and criminals alike. A persona that helped him out in so many sticky situations that he got himself in in the span of 2 years that he started working as an investigator.

This time however, he had no intention in bringing up his meek persona. Huaisang ran and hopped over a fence, his eyes never leaving the fleeing man who seemed to frazzled to think of a proper route to lose the cops. He grazed his foot against a loose nail that stuck out of the fence. Of course he couldn't feel the pain, he never did.

'tsk, never mind that now, Xichen Ge will fix it' he tutted.

Huaisang reached into the earpiece on his left ear and spoke as loudly as he could with the traffic incoming.
"Da ge, cut him off at 23rd street, he's heading west towards the overpass"

"Alright" Minjue replied curtly.

Huaisang had managed to dodge an incoming taxi as he swerved across the highway, still keeping his eyes on the criminal. As expected he climbed unto the next street over and as he was about to make it to the next traffic light, the criminal bolted right and had unintentionally ran towards a dead end in an alley.

"Da ge, new route. Alleyway behind Burke's coffee shop, he's cornered but armed and loaded" despite the knowledge, Huaisang's voice was steady and firm.

He stopped at the entrance of the alleyway, blocking the only path that he can escape to. Huaisang looked at the suspect with a disgusted expression on his face. Wen Chao was his name, a rich bastard who abused his father's money to get high and worm his way out from being arrested and jailed multiple times, in those times though, his mind was still sound and very much functioning. Looking at the poor man now he looked nothing like the first time Huaisang had met this guy. His black jacket all dirty and dusty, his face badly needed a shave or two and his eyes were bloodshot red.

"Ayiah Wen Chao, and here I thought you were clean? Didn't daddy dearest send you to rehab already?" he smirked. Huaisang noted Wen Chao's trembling hand, it reached into his coat that was full of grime. sure enough he drew out a gun and pointed it at Huaisang.

"Get out of my way you bastard! O-or i'll shoot! Don't think i won't!"

"Judging from the way you're stuttering, i doubt it very much" he retorted. A voice in his earpiece reached his ears, it was a new voice. Probably from that new guy Wanyin.

"Reinforcements incoming in less than 45 seconds" Wanyin reported.

'hmm, just enough time' Huaisang weighed his options as fast as he could. He can either 1. Distract Wen Chao until reinforcements arrive. Or 2. Try to apprehend Wen Chao himself.

The frazzled man looked left to right frantically "Move o-or i'll shoot damn it!" he yelled. Huisang stayed put. Just then Wen Chao let out a scream and moved towards Huaisang.

'Alright, no time for waiting then'

As the police sirens finally reached his ears so did the gunshot that rang throughout the area.
