In the deserted part of a city called Ibadan, lived a girl named Katie. She lived with her father and mother that loved her. She was humble, hardworking and beautiful. She obeyed her parents and they were really blessed to have her. Katie was ten years of age and was preparing to write her common entrance examination into secondary school.
One day, her parents travelled to Lagos and left her in the care of their neighbours. When they got to their destination, they called their neighbours to tell them that they had arrived at their destination. Katie was really happy to know that they arrived safely. Little did she know that was the last time she was going yo hear their voice.
The next day, Katie's guardian got a call from a strange number. They were a bit skeptical about picking the call but they later picked it. Mrs Tima, the wife of Katie'sneighbour, suddenly shouted because of what the caller said. The caller said, "Ma'am, the owner of this cellphone had a very fatal accident on the express way. It was a man and his wife. I decided to call you because you were the last person they called yesterday and I believe you must be really close to them but it was too late for thwm because they are already dead".
Mrs Tima panicked and fainted. Katie rushed to her and poured water on her face to revive her. She woke up and stared crying. Katie asked what the problem was buy she refused to answer knowing Katie would also break down. "The truth can't be hidden for long", she thought and decide to tell Katie.
She called Katie to a quiet place in the house and told her but she was surprised because Katie did not break down she just said, "God has a plan for every One of his children".
The next day, Mrs Tima called Laura, Katie's maternal aunt to tell her what happened. Laura's behaviour shocked Mrs Tima because she thought she would feel sorry but opposite was case in this matter. Laura did not show any type of sympathy instead she said, "and how is that my business?"
Mrs Tima angrily ended the call. She told Katie not to worry.
Laura was a self-centered person. She was very beautiful but she used bleaching cream which spoilt her skin and she looked older than her age. She was 34 years of age but looked 70. She was successful and never found true love. She was used and dumped by many and she was getting tired of it and always transferred her aggression on anyone close to her.
She had May boyfro3nds with the hope that when one dumps her, she would hold on to another.
The day after Mrs Tima called her about her sister and husband that had an accident, she drove down there and apologized about her behaviour and asked her when she should come to pick Katie to her house.
Mrs Tima told her to return the next day. Laura was not happy because she did not want to keep Katie with her.
Laura got home and asked one of her boyfriends living with her for advice because she wanted to sell Katie to a family that needs a maid because she was not ready to keep her. Fred supported her and gave her the go ahead to do it.
The next day, Katie was ready and when she saw Laura she rushed outside to welcome her aunt, she slapped her and Katie was surprised at why her aunty slapped her but Katie thought it was the new way of greeting in the city.
