Once again Juno and Alexander went at arguing at the time, like an old gay couple trying to decide what varnish to put on their newly bought buffet. I looked at them both of them seemed so obsessed with it. I had only started working at the company for a few months, but the way Juno took it you think he take it a little less seriously. Juno...juno was good especially at his job. By the age of thirteen, although still a rookie had more hits under his belt than any rookie recorded in the company's ledger and log books. By 16 he qualified for the Demigods a groups of highly trained warriors who were half-descended from the gods above, or to most people who read tabloids and conspiracy sites, and assumed they were different races, aliens. All of it boiled down to that Juno took himself seriously due to the fact he had climbed the skill ladder faster you could fire a .45 out of its chamber. Juno was skilled but he was also my boyfriend and he was my concern. We were linked, we had bracelets inside our arms that linked arms and minds. We inseparable, but that came at the cost of being born to serve the company raised in our homes until we were 21, from which we taken under some obligatory undetermined circumstance. Abducted and Re-abducted every night until we were born for it. We were gods in our own right and that terrified some people.
"All I'm saying," Juno uttered. "Is that I'd have faster response time if I used a different gun."
Alex responded with, "It's not the gun. It's you, if you don't use the weakness to your advantage than you're not using it to your advantage."
I sat with my bare sore feet on the glass coffee table listening to them argue from across it's length. I sipped a bit of cola. I laid back. My stomach was killing me. They continued arguing, and I continued listening. Alex then looked in my direction, "Feet off."
Juno's temper flared, "She's pre-"
Alex decked him, "shut up."
I laughed. Poor baby. I walked over and rubbed his little blonde head. Poor baby. Alec glared at us. I kissed his head. I then backed up and away, "I'm going to the firing range if you boy's need anything."
As elissa exited the door, and as it spiraled shut. Juno looked at Alex still fresh from the chiding. he deserved more than this. Hw needed to be better, but it felt wrong to be this way. He lived a life of expectation separate from what most people in his normal life had expected of him. It was unfair to be segregated into world I didn't believe I had the responsibility of being in. Elissa felt sorry for him. It wasn't easy to be him. Her family expected her to be normal and monstrous. This was normal for her. She came from a family and line of monster hunters. Her family gave her the responsibility of being abnormal and unrestrictedly violent. Juno's family had expected him to be normal and restrained. His family expected him to be - because they had falsely diagnosed him with - Aspergian. Juno was expected to act mentally ill, and because he was always expected to be, he came out as Aspie who's really obsessed over and quantifiable skill was to kill demons and enemies of the company. A thing few people of limited mindset or capability could understand. However Elissa was trying, rather successfully too. Like she said he was her boyfriend and her responsibility.
He was important to her. She then after a short mild-mannered walk reached the firing range, and as she opened the door the smell of guns and steel made her feel at home.
