Anna
The next day I find no gift by my bedside and the envelope with my spare key in it is still on my front door. How can this be? My mind is telling me he didn’t come last night but the dream of him kissing me felt so real I’m sure he must have. A single black silk rose lies on my car windshield and I smell it as I enter the vehicle.
I decide to drive up to a park I’d found on-line. Just a few miles up the highway, supposedly it’s cut off from all distractions of the city. The only signs of civilization are a gas station half way between my town and the park. I pray that he’ll follow me. I long to get him alone, even though I’m not sure what I’ll do once I have him all to myself.
I drive down the highway, it’s a little after four PM, and notice a tan truck behind me. I smile. He must really be hooked, I think to myself. I switch on the radio and hear a familiar song:
I am trying not to tell you,
But I want to.
I'm scared of what you'll say,
So I'm hiding
What I'm feelin',
But I'm tired of holdin' this inside my head.
I've been spendin' all my time
Just thinkin' bout you.
I don't know what to do;
I think I'm fallin' for you.
I've been waitin' all my life
And now I've found you.
I don't know what to do;
I think I'm fallin' for you,
I'm fallin for you.[1]
I smile at how perfectly the song fits my mood and happily sing along.
Stalker
I wake this morning, thoughts of Anna my angelic angel warming me like the sun on a summer day. I’m happy I decided not to pursue my pleasure of her last night while she was sleeping. She’s much too fragile and innocent to take advantage of that way. I may have become her stalker but I’m not a complete wack-job!
I drive over to her apartment later that day, just in time to see her leaving and, like always, I follow her. She leads me out to the highway, out of town and I start to wonder where is she going? Not that it matters. I’d follower her to the ends of the earth if I had to. Especially to give her the last gift she’ll ever want to receive.
As I’m driving behind her I notice she’s bopping her head from side to side. She must be listening to music. I switch through the radio stations, finding the song she’s dancing to easily but it’s not really my speed. On another station I hear the perfect song:
If you need a friend,
don't look to a stranger,
you know in the end,
I'll always be there.
And when you're in doubt,
and when you're in danger,
Take a look all around,
and I'll be there.
I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say. (I promise)
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be. (I promise)
But if you wait around a while, I'll make you fall for me,
