We drifted away into a timeless slumber,

remembering our youth and a time when we were younger.

Thinking of fields and cold morning dew,

during days of summer when dreams were made new.

Throughout this time we played ball and swam for hours,

talking of the future and all the plans to fly above towers.

We hoped for weeks to go faster and for adulthood to arrive,

so we could have jobs, relationships, and successful lives.

But no one ever told us that being young was more fun,

no one told us when we were older that we couldn't chase the sun.

So we wished away time and we played a little less,

we picked up our textbooks and changed the way we dressed.

Life became harder - still going by quite swift,

and all childhood habits ceased to exist.

Soon we graduated, married, and had children of our own,

got big jobs, raises, and made houses our homes.

It all went so fast - suddenly the babies became men,

out of nowhere came wrinkles, stretch marks, and hair growing thin.

We laid down our heads knowing our age was too high a number,

and closed our eyes for a timeless slumber.

Yet the fun was not over, it had only just begun,

when we opened our eyes were reunited, spending forever in the clouds -
chasing the sun.
