I stepped into the football field and took a deep breath. Today I was trying out for the football team, I saw Coach Burns appear and he eyed me warily, he probably wasn't expecting a girl here but oh well. He'd cope somehow.

Soon I saw a few other guys enter the feild with Brennan. Brennan flashed me a smile and jogged over. "How are you feeling?" He asked grinning, obviously trying to over come my nervousness with his happiness.

"Can't you tell?" I say continuing to walk toward Coach taking deep breathes.

"Hey at least you know some guys here, I mean half of them are in your classes aren't they?" Brennan asked looking at everyone. I shrugged and stood in front of Coach with everyone else. I'd met a few people before, Nathan. obviously Jake was here too and Luke. That was about as far as I knew people names wise, I'd seen everyone around sure but I didn't really know them.

"Alright listen up" Coach barked eyeing us all, "We're going to start off with some basic drills, as we go through them they will get harder, by the end of it you'll all be so tired it will hell just changing and going home" People past worried glances obviously not sure if they'd make the cut.

"When I point to you, tell me your name and what position you would like to play" He pointed to some Jake. "Jake and I'd like to play...." Jake went on and as Coach went through the line I started to get more familiar with people's names.Wesley, Zazh, and Nathan I had a few classes with I think.

Coach pointed at me and think then people really started to notice I was a girl, "Sam Evan and I would like to be quaterback" I said keeping direct eye contact with Coach, keeping my voice steady. "You sure about that Evans?" He asked eyeing me up and down slowly and I nodded.

I heard a few snigger's from the other people and I rolled my eyes refusing to let their doubt take control of me. I was a damn good player, Brennan had told me himself so many times, I knew I was. That was why I had to focus and just remember I knew I was a good player and if Coach didn't see that it was his loss.

By the end of training I was exhausted and like Coach said getting the effort to get changed was hell. Although I think I could do this, no I  know i can do this. By the end of training I think everyone but Coach was impressed by how well I play. Coach kept barking at me for a quicker release though.

After I had cleaned up I went to my truck where Jake was. "How do you feel?" He asked hopping into the front seat.

"Terrific" I sat getting into the car wincing. "Where's Brennan?" I asked just as Brennan entered the car with ease.

"Never mind" I said chuckling at the odds of him coming in right as I said that. As we drove home we discussed the training sesson, how Coach was an asshole but a damn good Coach. How if I didn't get into the team they'd personally kick Coach's butt. "Guys if I don't get in it's because I'm not good enough, did you see how he treated me? It was as if i was one of the boys"

Throughout the next week of school the new football tema and I - the new Quaterback became good friends, they started hanging out at my place more and I started to get to know them better. From then on we trained hard and worked harder, we had a good team and we were going to be unstoppable.

So yeah, this is my one-shot. I suck at endings... I hope you enjoy!
