It had been two weeks before I saw the duo again. Hiding my shock when I glanced up, upon hearing the familiar door chime, and seeing the two girls waltz in. They ordered their drinks before crossing the decently sized room to the table that had remained unoccupied during their absence.

I eyed them as they slid into their normal seats shedding their jackets that had shielded them from the cold December air that was circling outside. The small girl, Camila, glanced a look in my direction.

Raising my eyebrows in question she simply looked back at her best friend before turning back to give a sad look before shaking her head slowly. Turning her back to me I knew that was all I was going to get from the younger girl.

----

It had been a few days and I could feel myself slowly going crazy.

The boy had stopped coming with them to the cafe all together and I certainly had no problems with it. I slowly came to the conclusion that the boy and the dark haired girl had broken up.

That wasn't why I struggled to find relaxation in the quiet cafe though. It was because I couldn't believe what I was witnessing every time I glanced up to the two girls.

It was as if the roles had been reversed and now it was the dark haired girl that would be looking over to her best friend with a look I couldn't pin point at first, until I came to the realization that it was the same look that Camila had been giving the girl only months before.

I couldn't hide the amusement and shock at the sudden change in the situation. Yet it baffled me how two people could be so fucking oblivious. I could feel the tension radiating from the two yet somehow they had remained unaware, or they both didn't have the will to address it.

I didn't understand it.

Figuring that the two girls just needed an extra push I started modifying the art that I was nearly done with.

-----

As time passed the tension between the two girls grew unbearable.

I sat observing the other girls quietly as usual, resisting the urge to march over the two girls and slapping some sense into them.

The dark haired girl, who I had eventually came to know as Lauren, had once again looked up from her book to the small brunette, a smile ghosting her lips as her eyes softened and warmed. My eyes widened slightly when to my surprise Camila had looked up meeting her friends gaze.

I held my breath as I saw the girls staring intently at each other, waiting for one of them to make a move. My eyes fluttered back and forth between the girls the tension radiating throughout the cafe, a few people shifting uncomfortably in their seats.

Shock over took me when I saw the small brunette shake her head before sliding out of her seat, promptly packing her things and making a brisk exit, turning down the sidewalk until she was eventually out of sight.

The other girl, Lauren, trailed her eyes on her until she was out of sight before banging her fist on the table aggressively gaining the attention of the other bystanders in the cafe. As the attention slowly fell away from her I continued watching her intently as she eventually held her head down, a look I had become all too familiar with.

Sighing I found myself packing up my bags and crossing over to the black haired girl who had her head in her hands. She raised her head hearing the sound of the chair sliding out across from her. She eyed me before slumping forward putting her chin in her hand.

"I'm so pathetic." Was all that came out of her mouth. Taken back by her not questioning me, I simply shrugged as I absentmindedly gazed out the window.
