I sat there speechless as they stared daringly at each other, tension over taking Kylo's body. He looked and seemed liked he'd through punches into Arden direction- that nothing would cease this moment but the thought of defeating him. At the same time he looked intimidated- like he wanted nothing more than to avoid the arising conflict.
By now it was no doubt that they were brothers, they shared a look of distant commitment and far too much neglecting. I was stunned by all of this but the most shocking part wasn't that they'd had a tough past or a bad relationship and was nearing a fight- the things that hit me the hardest is that I never knew Kylo had a brother till this day and that his brother is Arden.
For as long as I've known him, he spoke of every family member but Arden- like he didn't care for it to cross his mind that he had a brother. When we were kids I never once met his side of the family, no one ever left the house while I played on their yard but Kylo.
I think I've seen Kylo's grandfather once the entire summer but that was when I noticed him through my window having an intense conversation over the phone outside on his front steps. I never thought nothing of it since I wasn't so used to being around arguing, my parents never once argued and if they did, it was rare and they most likely didn't do it in the house since they were aware of kids being present.
All I noticed during that time was that Kylo didn't come out to play for 3 days straight and for a child, I was more than worried but not knowing what to completely worry about worried me more.
"What the hell are you doing here Kylo?" Arden rose his voice as he growled at Kylo's presence, "You have no damn business showing your face here!"
Kylo smirked knowingly at Ardens tone of voice as he folded his arms over his chest, "Still haven't let go of your demanding ways I see."
A small chuckle left Ardens mouth through gritted teeth as he turned away shaking his head, "you probably got all this fortune through heavy demands" Kylo's finished words caused me to turn my gaze towards him.
A few minutes ago he claimed he wanted to make amends with his brother, now he's provoking him? A frown formed on my face as I continued to watch their dispute, I wanted so badly to stop them but I didn't know how or even feel comfortable enough.
I thought I knew Kylo well enough for me to pull him out of this, but did I really? He hadn't even told me about the only family in his life, his brother. Maybe Kylo and I weren't as close as I thought we were.
I probably could pull Arden out of this because we were friends weren't we? As him being my boss, we'd made a pretty decent relationship in and out of work but he did have a lot of odd things going on in his life that I didn't know about. So it would be impossible to muster up the courage and pull him aside.
At Kylo's words, Arden turned back- his eyes now filled with cold anger causing him to ball up his fist vigorously. Without warning, his fist collided with Kylo's jaw- knocking him back with ease.
My eyes grew at the sight and before Kylo could defend himself and for me to step in, two men emerged from the party and held the two back as everyone watched and spoke incoherently.
"You know I never wanted this, but you weren't man enough to step in so you bolted" Arden growled.
"You bolted first Arden! You left me all alone with that heartless man all for your own good" Kylo shot back- his eyes now beginning to redden by the second and his bruise visibly showing.
"I was jealous" Arden spoke, softly but I could still hear the rage in his voice.
"He didn't love me Kylo! He fucking despised me.. he said he'd pass everything down to you before even thinking of me and leave me with nothing but my own pain!" Arden cried in confession.
