"You aren't?" he said with a smile on his face finally getting what she was trying to tell him.

"I am!' she told him happily. "It's been some weeks now and I wanted to be sure and I am! I am with child! Finally, our child!"

She laughed as he spun her around kissing her, his hands running up her arms. She hadn't seen him smile like this in so very long and she basked in his happiness.

It had been a rocky few weeks for them, finding out that Lola was carrying his child. She had delivered a healthy baby boy a few weeks ago and the christening had been today. She had agreed to be godmother because after her initial pain and hurt she did not want to push this child away as Katherine had done to Bash. She wanted to be a part of its life and share in it with her husband. It had taken her awhile to forgive him and Lola but she knew that her husband harbored no feelings for her Ladysmaid and Lola was a loyal friend.

Marie laughed as he pulled her with him to walk along the beach they had been overlooking. 'I can't believe it," he said beaming, "a child, a family, oh Marie you've given me so much joy!" he whispered.

She smiled, she was three and a half months along and just starting to show. She laughed as he placed his hand on her womb speaking soft French words to the babe.

Nostradamus had told her only 1 glass of wine a day throughout the pregnancy and plenty of milk and water. He'd also warned her against too much physical exercise, no riding and only 1 or 2 dances per social function. She was thrilled to be pregnant at last but she had a feeling it was going to be rough. She had been ill a lot and it had been difficult to hide from Francis until now. But with the coronation and them just coming through a plague she had wanted to wait and surprise him and to be sure her pregnancy was strong.

Katherine had already guessed but Marie had sword her to silence until she revealed it to Francis. She was thrilled and had made it known she was hoping for a son, an heir to the French throne. The alliance agreement stated that if only one child was born to them it would inherit the French and Scottish Crown otherwise the first male heir would be the Crown Prince of France and the first Princess would be the Queen of Scotland someday.

Francis and Marie celebrated that night in each other's arms. They only had a few months before it would not be safe for the babe to engage in intimate acts. Marie and Francis didn't want to think about that, they loved each other so much and the pressures of being King and Queen were all left behind at night when it was just them.

Francis kissed her deeply, his mouth moving down her neck, behind her ear, his hands running up and down her chest. His relationship with Marie ran far deeper than he had ever imagined it would when they had met as children. Most royals never knew the kind of love they had been mercifully blessed with and he was looking forward to a long and happy life with her and the children they would have. Expressions and extensions of that deep love.

They fell asleep in each other's arms. He awoke the next morning feeling her hands running through his hair. He loved that, it was her special signature. Even the few girls he had been with before her had never done it and it was made that much more special that she loved his blonde curls. She always reached for him through his hair.
