sometimes, a first love
is like a fire on a
skinny match -
it burns
out much
too
quickly.
but other
times
they are like
sparklers -
they're only lit once,
but leave
a memory
in someone's
mind.
then there are
times when a first
love is like
a candle -
you blow it out,
but
always
end up lighting
it
once
more.
sadly, there are
first loves that end up
being like
cigarettes -
they're burned and
used, then
thrown on the ground
and stepped on.
never
to
be
remembered again.
then if you're lucky,
you get a first love
that is like
a forest fire -
nothing
can put it
out.
not
one
thing.
but the thing
about my first love
is that
it was nothing
like a fire,
more
like a
broken lighter.
a mere spark
that was never
meant to
burn
anything.
