Dear Diary, 5/14/40
Hello again today I turn 13! Mom said that she had a surprise for me. Wait.... What was that? "Mom! What was that?!" She said to get in the basement now, so we gotta go come on, I guess I have to bring you down stairs. I hear the banging getting closer, I have to run! I finally get into the basement and slam the door when I hear the loudest bang of all, there is a sharp yelp and then silence. After the bang the whole world is ringing. I sprint around the corner to hide and then I scream, there in the middle of the room are my mother and grandfather with a chunk blown out of the wall and blood everywhere. Suddenly I go into panic mode, where is Hubie?! I sprint around the corner and take a loud sigh, he was there the whole time right behind me.
