The Roommate

“Is it really necessary to send Tay to an all boys school?” Terry asked his father as he watched the chauffeur drive Taylor away.

“You know that’s not really Taylor, Terence. I only want my child back, the good hearted child who always had a smile on. It’s been years since Taylor laughed. I only want Tay to fall in love normally, not chase after girls and pretend to love them”

Terry watched his father’s eyes turn slightly red as they began to water lightly. He thought this wasn’t the right way but he didn’t say it loud for the sake of his father. He didn’t want to spoil the little hope his parents had. But maybe, a change is good in Tay’s life. Besides his best friend’s kid brother and Tay’s long time friend goes there too. The two kids might be a good company for Taylor.

He just hoped it won’t backfire and make Tay even worse.

Taylor sat in the backseat of the car frowning all the while till they reached his new school. The drive took two hours and Taylor was restless. He wanted to ride his motorbike but he wasn’t allowed to bring her to his school. The driver David glanced back at the grumpy young master and kept quiet knowing not to speak when he’s in a foul mood.

The car drove uphill twisting and turning until the road declined widening into a flat clearing suitable for parking.

Taylor was baffled. The school was situated over a hill with no other buildings around conveniently eliminating anything fun to do. The drive to the nearest town takes at least twenty minutes and Taylor already started hating and dreading his life.

‘Think positive, Think positive, think positive’ he started chanting in his head but he didn’t know what the hell would be positive in this secluded jungle. He wished he had seen the school before so he could have at least been prepared.

The car stopped before the main entrance and Taylor took his sweet time getting off. He looked up at the tall beautiful building covered almost entirely in glass that looked more like a corporate building rather than a school.

“Always Extravagant” he mumbled thinking about his grandparents with a grin.

“Hey Taylor!” A familiar voice interrupted his thoughts making him face forward.

Before he could detect where the sound came from a mop of blond swished past his eyes and he was engulfed in a big hug.

“I'm so glad to see you!” Dominic yelled in Taylor’s ear making him cringe.

Taylor patted Dominic’s back since he began suffocating him with his hug. “You just saw me a week ago and let go you are suffocating me” he choked out.

“Oh! my bad. I just missed your grumpy self.” Dominic released Tay abruptly making him stumble while he smiled sheepishly.

Taylor glared at his childhood friend while he tried to breathe in normally. “You still haven’t let go of the doggy collar huh?” Dominic smirked making Taylor scowl.

“It’s not a dog collar and you damn well know why I'm wearing it. One more word about it and I’ll bust your nose” Taylor seethed with a blank face making Dominic raise his hands in surrender immediately. “Now shut up and take me to the office. Let’s get this stupid day over with, I'm beat” he grumbled as he started walking down the corridor slouching grumpily with his hands buried in the front pocket of his jeans.

Taylor expected it to be covered in all glasses on both sides but instead on the inside there were few pillars and metal railings that opened into a huge inner garden with a fountain in the middle surrounded by porcelain statues of widely varying culture in regard to different countries. Taylor was surprised at how it was pretty well kept when it was inside a school full of hormonal teenage boys. He was expecting to find a few broken statues or at least few damaged trees or dead patches of lawn but everything was perfect and prim making him feel sceptical.
