John's POV
The day was almost half over. I had one more class before lunch. Freddie had done a wonderful job of showing me around earlier, I haven't even gotten lost once!
Classes were going by pretty fast, given that it's the first day and all. The teachers mostly just went over the syllabus, or had us introduce ourselves, or just let us fuck around.
Oh! And another wonderful thing, remember the pretty girl from this morning? Veronica? She's in my history class! And she sits right. Next. To. Me.
Deadass, I thought I was gonna have a panic attack when she sat down next to me. She was even prettier up close! Then she turned and said hello, and smiled at me! I was on cloud nine! Somehow I didn't make a fool of myself, and she even talked to me the rest of the hour. This is shaping up to be the greatest day of my life so far.
Speaking of greatest day, as I walked in to my next class, I didn't even have to look around for a place to be before I heard my name being called. I looked in the direction, and lo and behold, there was Freddie, waving his hands around, trying to get my attention. The seats were set up on an angle, going downstairs, and Freddie sat about halfway down. I quickly ran to him, and sat next to him, smiling as I put my stuff down.
"I didn't know you'd be in this class!" I exclaimed, my smile growing as I noticed a small blonde and a huge bush of curly hair in the row in front of us, "What? You all are! How? I thought this class was only for freshmen?"
"Oh not necessarily, you need it to graduate. Brian and I just haven't taken it yet." Freddie crossed his legs, leaning over the awkward desks towards me. Brian turned and waved.
"What about Roger?" I asked, waving back at Brian.
Roger spun around, pulling his feet up over the back of the chair, "I failed it last year." He shrugged, a small grin on his face. Brian rolled his eyes at him.
"Only because you didn't do any homework," he scolded, "But now that I'm here, I'm making sure you do it."
"Whatever, mum." He said, leaning farther back. He was gonna end up falling like that.
Just then, the teacher walked in, slamming the door shut behind him, right after the bell signaling the start of class rung.
"Hello, everybody! I hope you're all having a good morning. As some as you may have noticed, I'm not the actual health teacher. I'm the principal, you can call me Mr. Beach. You're teacher couldn't be here today, so I will be filling in. I don't want any trouble."
Most of the class nodded, some just stared around. I looked to Roger, and saw him still sitting backwards, but this time with his head upside down to see the front of the class.
"I'll be starting with attendance," Mr. Beach spoke, before calling out the first few names. He got to Freddie before the rest of us, and seemed to struggle pronouncing the name. Odd. Freddie isn't that hard to say. What he was saying didn't even sound anything like the name!
"Just call me Freddie, sir." He shouted, raising a hand so he could be seen. Mr. Beach looked up to him and then stopped. He stared at Roger before sighing, "Mr. Taylor, please face the front of the class."
"I am facing the front of the class!" He whined, head still upside down. Brian sighed quietly and put a hand over his face.
"I mean sit properly, Roger. This is high school. Get your act together, I don't want to already see you in my office on the first day." He said much more sternly.
