The night sky, full of bright yellow orbs, illuminated the scenery upon its sight. The rows upon rows of red brick houses with happy families enjoying their meals was wrapped safely in the warm summer's breeze. One by one the house lights dimmed and everyone decided it was time for a good night's slumber, all except one.

The Noctis household was still up and running, defying the sleepiness they all felt."I say the new ruler is actually a foreigner to this land and was elected because of how corrupt our system is" A clink is heard as the middle aged man sets down his cup of brandy with a look of disgust. "Darling you mustn't speak ill of our ruler, you know the consequences"

A woman also middle aged says as she furrows her brows. Her husband gruffs as he watches her whisk away the half full plates away from the table."But mother, father's right. The new ruler is rather strange and-" The young girl with golden locks and ocean blue eyes that replicated crashing waves upon a dark cliff side was quickly shushed by her mother.

"Vita! Do you know how dangerous that is to say. If anyone heard you we'd surely be locked up for slander, you know the rules" Vita looks at her mother wide eyed and shocked before looking at the ground. The sound of clattering dishes are heard as the mother rambles on. "Your brother is due to return back from the army. That's some good news."

Both Vita and her father scoffed at the word 'army' as if it were the worst word to ever exist. "Why did he have to join the army. After All they're the ones that killed Mrs Tam-" Vita is once again shushed. "Vita! What did I just tell you" Vita shakes her head and slams her fists against the table, shaking the silver tableware. "Why must you always ignore the truth, mother?"

Vita stares at her mother with a pointed gaze. "They took away Leon. They killed our neighbour. They even struck down our sick cat. How can we stay quiet when these atrocities are happening before our very own eyes. We live each day in fear of the Army but Leon was forced to join them. Mother why?"

A tear slides down the aged face of Vita's mother. She turns away from her daughter and husband and continues with the dishes as if nothing happened. Hums of the heartbroken women filled the kitchen while the busy bustling of fireflies were heard around her. Silence. It was a painful silence that tore Vita to shreds.

Visibly irritated, Vita gathers the courage to slowly get up and walk towards her mother. With each step she took she felt the weight on her shoulders grow heavier and heavier, her vision blurred and her mother was reduced to a simple silhouette. She reaches forward, hesitantly as if to cry out for her mother's love and warmth.

As the two female bodies were about to meet, the deafening sound of the doorbell was heard. The whole family stopped in their tracks and looked at one another. The silence was broken as soon as Vita loudly exclaimed, "I'll get it!". Her parents watched her zoom past the dining table and with a knowing look laughed at their daughters enthusiasm.

Vita rushes to the main room that was just past the wooden staircase that showcased her and her brothers entire lives in picture form. The memories flood back to her mind and she stops to stare at one of the later photos encased in a golden yellow frame covered in light brown roses embedded into its golden host.

The frame symbolises the love she had for her brother and how dear she held it in her heart. As she takes a closer look at the photo that was taken the day of her brother's departure to the army she feels suddenly nostalgic. The pose showed her under her brother's arm puffing her cheeks as he ruffled her neatly braided locks. She could remember everything so vividly.

The sky, the atmosphere, everything. She tilts her head up recalling the brief conversation they had that day.The coral sky lights up the plain waters, making the water look like a calm fire dancing in between the tiny cracks of the rocks. The rocks joined together, facing their calm front, as if they were a crowd watching the sun set.

The lit up parts of the boulders smiled towards the line of the sky where it meets the sea, as if saying hello to their simple companion that was so close but so far away. The brother and sister walk towards the edge of the cliff while taking in the picturesque sight. Both of their hair dances in the wind as they turn towards each other. "This is it. My last day before I go out to the army"

The 6'3 hazel eyed boy says as he looks down at his sister. The young girl huffs in annoyance and bites her lip. "Why didn't you tell me earlier. You always keep things from me" Her brother laughs and pats her head. "Because I knew you would protest either way."The young one blinks back tears as she holds onto her brother's arm tightly.

"I don't want you to go just yet. Who am I going to play hide and seek with. Who's going to have dance battles with me when mum and dad are away? Who's going to be my best friend?". The young man feels guilt surge through his body but takes this as a chance to reassure his sister everything will work out.

"You still have your friends from school. You can always have dance battles with Mother and Father and even if I'm not here you will always be my best friend" The short girl's mouth opened to protest again but was quickly stopped by the small ruffle of her hair her brother gave her. She had spent ages brading it perfectly but it was now ruined.

She then stared at her brother before bursting into a fit of laughter and the deep voice of her brother then followed. "I'll miss you" They both said as the sun finally went down.Vita is taken out of her thoughts as the doorbell rings again. "Geez I'm coming, I'm coming. You never were the patient type were you leon?" She reaches the door and reaches for the light silver handle.

This is what was separating her from her long lost brother. Just one slight turn of the hand and she would be in his embrace once more. She shivered at the fact. Although she missed him. It had also been so long. What if he had changed? What if she had changed?. All of these were thoughts running through Vita's mind.

She took in a deep breath and fixed a smile upon her face. She slowly twisted the barrier between her and her brother. A bright light shone in her face and her heart dropped. Her brother, Who she wanted so long to see. That was him, that was his face. The only problem and question was. "Where is Brother's body?" She whispered slowly.

The head of her dead brother was pitched on her fence. The blood gushing from it and dripping onto the ground creating a little beat. The pool of blood spilled towards her and she looked at it and she felt her stomach churn. She felt trapped. Enclosed in a nightmare. And alone. Her body grew limp and she felt her head spin. The pool of blood fueling her terror as she fell in it. With one last cry she whispered. "Brother"
