Louie fell to his knees at the door as the two seagulls disappeared in black smoke. He heard running and shouting from behind him but he couldn't move, couldn't speak. He was completely, and uncontrollably in shock.
"Louie!" Someone shouted in his ear.
Louie didn't answer.
"He's in shock. Nobody move him." He identified Huey's voice. He watched as if it were a movie as Huey and Dewey stepped in front of him. He saw Dewey glance at the closed door, nervously, and reached for the doorknob.
"No," Louie thought, "Don't open the door, Dewey."
Louie was hyperventilating now and Huey was trying to calm him down, with a soothing voice as Dewey turned the doorknob and pushed open the door.
It was a horrible scene.
Webby had put up with such a fight and the room paid dearly for it.
Dewey walked in first and looked around. His best friend was gone. Nothing left of her but what the room provided had happened. He spotted a note on the end table and walked slowly over to it as Huey helped Louie up to his feet.
Dewey picked up the note with trembling hands.
"Oh, Llewellyn," Dewey read out loud. "This isn't how I planned on reuniting with you. If only you had come quietly, I would have just taken my revenge out on Webby. But you were weak, and since you didn't, and decided to do this the hard way, your entire family is going to suffer for it. I will have you one way or another. This war you started will end, with or without your precious little Webbigail."
"This is bad. Very, very bad." Huey said after Dewey was done reading the note.
"We know it's bad, Huebert." Dewey snapped. He crumbled up the note and tossed it to the floor. "What we don't know is where Webby is." He glanced at his younger brother who still hadn't said a word or moved on his own since they found him.
"Louie, it's going to be alright." Huey said, "This is Webby. She can fight her way out of any situation, remember?" He told him gently as tears began to form in his eyes.
"Y,you guys don't understand." Louie stammered, finally finding his voice. "S,She can't fight. Not now."
Huey and Dewey looked at each other.
"What do you mean, can't fight? She can, she can and will -."
"She's PREGNANT!" Louie shouted at them in frustration.
They both stared at him in disbelief.
"S,She told me before, before I purposed." Louie explained. "She didn't, didn't want anyone to know just yet, and and..."
Louie could it hold it in any longer, and busted out crying.
"Oh, Louie." Dewey said with a deep sigh. He walked over to him and gave him a hug. Huey did the same. They huddled like that until Louie calmed himself down.
"S,She's making me choose." Louie said, as he hiccupped repeatedly. Huey and Dewey raised their eyes to each other. They had pressed their foreheads together as they wrapped their arms around Louie. Louie looked up at him through the arm link, his tears stained face made his brother's hearts sink. "I, I, can't choose. I -."
He choked back a sob.
"You won't have to, Lou." Huey told him firmly.
"Yeah, we're coming with you to save Webby. You mess with one of us -." Dewey said.
"You mess with all of us." Huey finished.
Louie gave a hollowed forced chuckle.
"I know this isn't the right time but..." His voice trailed off as he punched Louie in the arm.
"Ow." Louie grumbled as they broke apart.
"That's for keeping the pregnancy a secret." Dewey told him firmly as Louie rubbed his now bruised arm. He glared at Dewey but a tiny smile slowly spread across his face.
Louie looked towards Huey for help.
"Don't look at me," Huey said, shaking his head and putting up his hands. "I'm with Dewey on this one." He added.
Louie sighed deeply.
"Sorry." He muttered.
"Just name the kid after one of us, and we'll call it even." Dewey told him.
Louie rolled his eyes.
Yeah. Right.
"So, putting that aside." Huey said getting down to business. "Do you have any idea where Cordelia would have taken Webby?"
Louie blinked, confused.
"I mean, any special place that meant anything to her that involved the two of you in anyway?" Huey explained.
'I, I'm sure there's about at least four places, and one not so..." His voice trailed off as he shivered. "I, I can't focus right now. I, I think I'm going to, to -."
He closed his eyes and threw up all over Huey's feet.
"Ew." Huey said, with disgust in his voice as he lifted a foot. Louie looked up at him apologetically. "I'll let this one slide." Huey told him.
Louie smiled great-fully at him.
"Come on, let's go round up the others." Dewey told him, pulling Louie gently towards the door. Louie stopped short and started at them. His eyes wide. "What?" Dewey asked, looking back at him. "L,Lena." Louie said.
He ignored the greasy feeling in his stomach and jerked his arm way before rushing out of the room. Huey and Dewey glanced at each other before rushing out after him.
Louie skidded to a stop once he got outside where he last seen Lena, and knelt down near her body. She was still unconscious and was barely breathing.
"What, what happened?" Huey asked, in alarm.
"S,She tried holding Cordelia off..." Louie whispered.
"Man, and I missed it?" Dewey groaned. Louie and Huey stared at him. "A witch and a demon facing off? You know how much advertising and investment -."
"Knock it off, Dewey." Louie snapped at him as Lena's eyes started to flutter open.
"Okay, okay. Sorry, ." Dewey grumbled as Lena sat up. She rubbed her head and looked at the three boys in front of her. "Just trying to lighten the mood..." His voice trailed off as Huey glared over at him.
"W,what happened?" Lena choked out. She looked over at Louie for the answers. "W,Webby?" She asked him. Louie slowly shooked his head, as Lena's heart sank.
"I, I couldn't save her in time." Louie whispered. "S,she was right. I am weak..."
"This means war." Lena growled as she got to her feet. Louie blinked up at her. Lena looked back down at him with determination in her eyes as she held out a hand to him. "I meant what I said before," She told him when he hesitated at taking it. "If you are important to her, then you are important to me." She reminded him.
Louie looked over at his brother's who nodded in agreement.
Louie slowly looked back at Lena's out stretched hand and slowly took it.
"Come on," She said, "Let's go save Webby."
