There were some things in life I loved and some that I hated. Among those things would be the Ford I had bought 5 years ago but hadn’t had the time or money to replace it. Another one of those things would be Traffic. There had been a wreck on the exit ramp I took everyday, but I was forced to go down an exit and take back roads, but not before sitting amongst the hundreds of angry honking drivers for half an hour.

Sitting in a car for extended amounts of time alone was something I normally tried to avoid. This being because it had given me time to think, and very foolishly, accept Mr. Price’s offer for lunch. I had to tell him I didn’t know the time I would be off for lunch yet. I also told him that it was because I had been working extended hours. The lie, I knew, would come back and try to haunt me so I also prayed in that 30 minute traffic stop.

Directing my attention back to what I had been keen on accomplishing today, I pulled into a parking spot and got out of the car. Well tried to get out of the car. The door had been getting stuck a lot recently due to the cold weather. Scooting to the middle seat, I pulled the handle and kicked the door open, being very thankful in the fact that no one had pulled into the spot next to me.

After three attempts to get out of the car, I finally managed to get into the warm building. The warmth reminded me of my blankets I had been forced to abandon earlier that morning. Slowly my mind wandered back to the thoughts of Jasper and my head became foggy and I was starting to feel light headed. Pushing the thoughts out of my head again, I reached the front desk
.
“Good Morning, my name is Allison and I will be happy to address any needs you may have.” The woman that sat before me was tiny even if she stood up. She had dark brown hair and wore fit clothing that made her look a little intimidating. Realizing my mind was wandering yet again, I spoke. “Hello. I’m Adalynn Bell and this is my first day. I was told to meet with Mr. Robert Day.”

She shook her head and smiled, “He is in his office. Just don’t let him intimidate you, he really is just a sweetheart. If you go to the 5th floor and turn right, he is 3 doors down on the left. You're looking for room number 568. Good luck on your first day and come to me if you need anything.”

I thanked her then followed all of her directions. Finally arriving at the specified room after 5 minutes, I gently knocked on the door.

The response was a raspy “Come in.” As I put my hand on the door handle, I heard a male voice clear his throat, making me feel even more frightened than before, I opened the door to find a man that seemed to be in his mid-20s, but looked 19. He had a perfect jawline that made me kinda jealous and light blue eyes that chose to show many different emotions and matched his jawline, making him more attractive, and I, more jealous of his good looks. The rest of his face sat stone, but as I walked in, softened into a smile. He stood and started walking to meet me halfway across the room. Although his height was intimidating at what seemed like over humanly height, he gave off a positive vibe, making me feel welcomed, but still scared.

“Come in! Come in! You must be the new girl! My name is Robert Day, and I'm your new boss.” I was wondering why Allison said don't let him scare me, but at that exact moment he grabbed my hand to shake it. His grip was turning my hand white but I smiled through it. “Have a seat and we can talk about what you'll be doing today.” He started back toward his desk silently, but as he did, I noticed he was slouching.

I gasped under my breath and forced myself to sit in the chair across his desk. His height alone was enough to make me want to turn and run. Although he seemed really nice, it was a factor to consider. Even though I was so used to people always towering over me because of my short height of 5’ 2”, this man scared me with his height.

Eventually convincing myself that I was being paranoid, I forced myself into a seat. His office was neat and every shelf was lined with books, leaving an occasional gap for a picture. The thing that struck me as odd was the pictures weren't personal pictures. Looking around the room I noticed he didn't have anything in his office that was personal. It only made me wonder what he was hiding, but I pushed that thought out of my head with the other thousand that had been exiled today.
