introduction

setting : paris , france 1954

it was a warm summer in france , unlike most . the streets were dirty but , the city was full of life . paris was at it's prime . the war had come and gone and the economy in france was booming . modern times were being created by the second . many people knew paris as "the city of love" which of course held some truth . however , for geneviève , her home was in paris and she would describe it as "the city of lust" . paris was filled with soulmates for those searching for "true love" but for the average parisian , there was wine and dirty hotels made for sex with "ladies of the night" .

geneviève's family was rather wealthy but then again almost everyone was . everyone had money , industry was booming , and life was beautiful . what more could a person want ?

geneviève was sat in her fathers parlor , wasting away due to immense boredom . she was supposed to be busying herself but all she could think of was how lonely it gets in this old victorian mansion . oh how geneviève dreamed of moving away and making a life for herself without all the pressure of "a modern lifestyle" . she yearned to be free from the dingy walls of the worn down mansion .

geneviève couldn't take it anymore in the stuffy parlor , so she decided to go for a walk in the garden . it was there she felt happy and free . amongst the flowers and birds , she felt at home almost . her favorite spot was just beside the biggest rose bush she had ever seen . she could sit there for hours , a book in her hand , the smell of french roses in the air . today however , she still felt off even whilst in the garden . the loneliness was beginning to swallow her whole . so instead of sitting quietly by the roses , she decided to go for a stroll thru town . little did she know what she had in store for herself .
