It was a quiet summer's night. A cool breeze wafted through the corridors and halls of the castle, making the wax candle flames blow about. The King and Queen were sound asleep in their chambers when a frantic maid burst into the chambers.

"Your Majesties!" The maid yelled, frantic. The King and Queen shot up.

"What is the meaning of this?!" The King shouted. The maid bowed quickly.

"I am so sorry for the intrusion, your majesty but there is an emergency!" The maid said, her voice high and panicked.

"What could possibly be so important that you saw fit to barge into our bed chambers to awaken us?" The King asked, angrily.

"The princess is missing!" The maid cried. The Queen immediately shot up at that.

"What?! My baby is missing?!" The Queen cried in disbelief. She threw off her covers and ran out of the room, pulling on a coat as she went. She threw open the doors to her daughter's room and screamed. The King burst in seconds behind her.

The princess's bed was empty. The covers were disturbed and there was a sunken spot in the matress where the princess had been sleeping. The maid ran down the hall. The Queen turned to her, frantic.

"What happened?! Where did my baby go?" The Queen sobbed.

"I don't know your highness, i came in here to put some of her dresses away since they just came out of the wash and she was gone!" The maid said. The King turned to her.

"Find her. Turn this whole palace upside down if you must just find her, please, find our daughter!" The King shouted. The maid nodded and left. The Queen was holding her daughter's blanket and sobbing.

"Don't worry dear, we'll find her." The King said. "We'll find her." The Queen looked up at him with tear filled eyes.

"What if we don't?" The Queen asked. The King hugged her.

"We will."
