Zylar's POV

I woke up with a dull pain underlying the numbness in my right arm. Even before I could open my eyes, I knew I was not on my bed. My bed was too cosy unlike the bed that was now accommodating me.

Familiar voices whispered around in the room and I flung my eyes open to see three people staring at me.
The pain on my right arm was like needles that had been dipped in alcohol and jammed through my skin.
It was like ice had replaced my arm and electricity wired straight into my spine.
The blurriness slowly faded and three faces swam into focus.

" Thank God you are awake!" Jeff bubbled kissing me lightly on the lips. I smiled weakly at him.

"Where I'm I?" I whispered staring into his coal black eyes. He held so much warmth and love in them.

He held my hand in his as if fearing I might vanish and tucked the hair that had fallen on my face behind my ear.

" At the hospital." He said. "What happened to you? Where did you go to?"

I shifted my eyes and looked at Sasha and Matt. Sasha's worried eyes stared blankly at me as she struggled to stop the tears that were hanging dangerously on her eyelids from falling.

I told them everything that happened to me stopping once in while because of the sobs. Jeff was besides himself with fury and guilt. He was already apologising even before I could finish my story cursing silently under his breath. His teary eyes looked at me as he wiped an imaginary tear on his cheek. I could not stand seeing him like that,it was my fault that I had left without him.

"You shouldn't have left Zee. We looked for you everywhere." Sasha sobbed mopping my sweating forehead with her palm.

"Aren't you guys supposed to be in prison or something?" I asked chuckling softly. I wanted to cheer up their sullen faces.

"That cop was just messing with us." Matt said smiling." He works with my dad. My dad's a detective."

I was embarrassed.

I hadn't expected it to turn out like that, I never did. Who would have thought that the cops were just messing with us?
My apologies didn't seem to be enough.

"Who brought you here?" Sasha asked when I had calmed down.

"Dunno." I muttered looking away. I still felt guilty.
It seemed like my guardian angel had disappeared even before I could thank him for his life-saving mission.

"Who told you I was here?" I suddenly said looking at each one of them.

"We got a call from the hospital." Jeff replied. He looked at the others who nodded and made me lie back on the bed.
They urged me to rest which I did reluctantly.

I had many questions that remained unanswered about the previous night. About my almost rape and my lifesaver who remained unknown.
How did the hospital know my details? That was my main question now. I mean, I was unconscious and that means I had not talked to any of the hospital staff. I had no identity card or anything on me that could help them trace my family or friends.

The confusion thoughts looped in my mind until there was no room for anything else.
My head ached. Maybe as a result of hitting the rock. The painkillers were not helping at all.

I was almost drifting off to sleep when I remembered something.

"What time is it?" I squalled  jumping from the bed.
My big toe hit a box that I hadn't seen before on the floor sending pangs of pain all over my body.

"It's 4:05 pm." A surprised Sasha replied looking at her watch.

Damn! I ran towards the counter where my clothes had been put and I realized my top and bra were missing. They were torn last night.  A white shirt lay beside my dirty jeans on the counter and I did not waste time in putting them on. I threw my hospital gown on the bed and was quickly putting on my sneakers when Sasha grabbed my hand.

"Where do you think you are going? What's wrong with you?" She was screaming at me.

I stood up with one sneaker on and the other on my shaking hand glaring at her. She was wasting my time.

"I was supposed to meet him at four. I'm already late Sash, he's going to kill me!" I gulped.

"Who?"

"Kael."  It came out as a whisper.

I ran out of the door before she could stop me my feet paining from the impact and put on my other shoe while in the lift. Sasha was already running after me and I could not let her stop me.

I knew Kael. Everybody did. I did not want to get on his bad side yet,not before our project was over and done with.

I walked out of the hospital and saw Matt and Jeff coming from the coffee shop. They had gone to get coffee for the four of us. I hid behind the nearest car to avoid being seen. Jeff would never allow me to leave in that state and that would only make Kael mad at me.

I took a cab to school paying with the dump note I found in my jeans. Seems lady luck was still on my side.

He was already there when I arrived and I could not bring myself to face him. I was all sweaty and the hospital smell all over me. Save for the white T-shirt I had on that smelled like fresh roses and cologne. My rescuer's smell. That was the only thing I remembered about him.
He was generous enough to have let me keep the shirt.

I made slow paces towards Kael silently mumbling a prayer because I knew if he killed me I would definitely end up in hell. I wasn't religious like my parents.

I was almost reaching where he was when he suddenly turned, our eyes meeting immediately.
