Roger stared at the paper in his hands again.
What the fuck?
He heard the front door shut as you left. He wanted to go after you and ask you more, but he couldn't right now. He was too heated. Too wound up. He would end up yelling at you again. He didn't want to yell at you.
He was so angry; he'd never felt this way in his life. A lot of shitty things had happened to him but this had to be the worst. And to think that he was actually going to marry you?
Roger looked down at the paper. Was all of this actually true? Was this his life? He couldn't imagine himself as a father, especially one to Dominique's children. He'd only met her once after all. Why would he have children with her?
He sat down on the bed, keeping the ring aside and he crumpled up the paper, keeping it to the side too.
He couldn't wrap his head around this. You were in 2019 and now you were here. How was that even possible? Was it a normal thing in the future, to travel back? And why you all of people? If time travel was invented, why wouldn't they have sent a scientist or somebody more equipped to handle with the situation?
Roger's head swam with possibilities and memories. This was fucking impossible, but everything was beginning to make sense.
He thought back to the beginning. When he had bumped into you outside of their gig.
"It looks like she's seen a ghost" Brian had said. You were staring at him, Brian and Freddie wide-eyed, as if you couldn't believe he was real. And then you'd passed out and Roger had caught you.
Was it because you already knew who he was? Perhaps he had become famous, and you'd known him and that would explain your disbelief at seeing him.
"I'm dreaming, this has to be a dream, there's no fucking way this is actually happening" You had said, standing in his apartment the next day. You were staring at him and he had assumed it was because you thought he was attractive.
But no, it was because you couldn't believe it either. You hadn't come here on purpose.
Something else had sent you here. But why?
The first few days he'd known you, you were in sort of a limbo. Bursting into tears at random times, staring at other people way too much, making references to things he didn't understand too often.
It was because you were adjusting. You were trying to fit into 1974.
That's why you had no belongings, no home address, no ID...no medical insurance.
Fuck. That's why the hospital had no record of you existing. Because you hadn't been born yet?
Could it really be?
You'd forced him to take you to The Rabbit Hole, a pub that didn't even exist, it was still under construction. He remembered your surprise when the pub was empty, and you had been desperately looking for something.
