JUNE 21ST
Jules just texted me! We haven't talked in months, but he had deleted Snapchat for a bit so I get it. The last time we had talked, he had told me that he was going to a school 7 states away from where we live, so I've been dreading the day he leaves since then. (Jules will be italicized)
"Sorry I haven't texted, just got Snapchat back"
"Oh that's okay! How's your fam? How's..." We text for a little while, just catching up and then he drops a bomb on me,
"Btw Nina and I broke up."
"What? Why?" I try to act sad for him but my heart is doing flips in my chest,
"The distance, we're going to try and be just friends for now but we'll really decide before I leave. Its really weird though"
"Oh I'm sorry, at least you're still friends. Why does it seem weird?"
"We've been together for so long its so weird to try and see her as just a friend, but can we not talk about it for now?" He says this and my heart drops, but I'm glad we aren't talking about it anymore.
...
We continue to text for a couple days, then we make plans to hang out on the one day we both have off from work. We meet up at a local park and just walk and talk for hours, we just lose track of time, talking about our old teammates, our college plans, what we're nervous about, the weird people we deal with at work, you name it we talked about it -except for Nina-. He drove me home, and the whole way we were still talking and laughing, and out of instinct, I hugged him before I got out of the car, because he gives the best hugs. It felt so nice to have him back, just like freshman year when we would talk for hours and I felt like I could always talk to him, no matter what it was about.
