Chapter 1: Rawr XD

In the beginning, there was nothing, and then God said: "Rawr means I love you in dinosaur ;)" and the Internet was created. Well, this isn't exactly what happened, but I'm paraphrasing. What happened was the Internet was established in 1991 (technically it was built in the 1960s, but the 90s is when it became available to the public.) and from that point on most of the culture has in some way been shaped by it. I know that since, you know, time exists, in 5-10 years everything will be a distant memory from the people who experienced it, until now! I'm going to be cataloguing and explaining all of the internet weirdness I've come across in my 16 years of existing. I am starting with the foundation of early-2000s kid and teen culture and the randomness of this era. So let's begin, shall we?

What is/was random Humor?:

Random humour was a prevalent type of comedy in the early to mid-2000s. Example of this in pop culture would be ASDFmovie, charlie the unicorn, and Fred. This style can be identified since the 'jokes' make literally no sense but still somehow make you laugh. Another way of being recognised is with the used of food items as the punchline or just screaming incoherently. A tv show that used random humour well was invader Zim, more specifically, GIR. GIR's jokes are just saying random things in any situation. But somehow it works because it's used sparingly. Unfortunately, most of this type of comedy is ALWAYS doing it.

-Tacos

-Waffles

-Moustaches

-Bacon

-Potatoes

Besides, this style of humour has been brought back in a sense, but now we call it ironic humour instead of random humour. Even though they are fundamentally the same type of comedy. 

early 2000s youtube channels:

Now after reading this you must be thinking "oh I remember that!" and then close out of this tab and go watch something from your childhood. Bad idea. Please, please PLEASE, don't ruin your day, I'm begging you everything you saw from 2009-2015 aged HORRIBLY or was just generally unfunny, to begin with. This was because most of the listed channels were just getting their footing onto youtube since it just started up, with that there was also a large number of comedy channels from this era that make... Uh... trust me, it was BAD. But if you want to suffer; here's some stuff to watch... if you're brave enough.

-Shane Dawson's "skits" (most have been taken down recently since people JUST realized he was always a terrible, racist, and unfunny person.)

Subcultures:

Now if you're familiar with this period you must have at some point heard of a few prominent subcultures: Scene, emo, and hipsters (around 2010 for hipsters) I'll explain these subcultures in depth.

If you've never heard of scene, you'd probably get it confused with the emo subculture.
