Azlaan's pov
"Sir the American delegates will be here any minute" Said my secretary Ali, breaking my chain of thoughts.
"I will be there in five minutes" I replied curtly, dismissing him.
Loosening my tie, I sighed. All this was getting too much. I seriously need some peace or I will become insane. Sighing myself I strode towards the conference hall, greeting the employees on my way.
"Good afternoon gentlemen" I wished all of them.
After a short description, the meeting started and lasted for more than two hours, making me more tired.
Soon after the meeting, I headed straight to Ahaan's home.
"Where is Ahaan?" I asked Maria aunty who stood at the doorway.
"He is upstairs dear" She said politely and disappeared into the kitchen.
Sighing I made my way upstairs to Ahaan's room. He was there, sitting on the bed with files and papers surrounding him.
"Do one thing, marry them" I remarked, making him look upwards and smile.
"Assalamu alaikum" He said and cleaned the stack of papers, giving me space to sit.
"Wa alaikum salam"
"What made you come here?" He questioned.
"Just" I shrugged.
"Ahira isn't talking to you yet?" He asked, concerned for his sister.
"She isn't talking to anyone" I said, getting sad all over again thinking about how she ignores everyone and mostly me.
Everytime I talk to her, she makes excuses. What scares me the most is how she writes her diary every midnight, after everyone is asleep and that too without light.
"What I was thinking is..." I dragged
"What is it?"
"We should plan some outing or something like that" I stated.
"Yeah, I guess that would be a good idea" Ahaan said.
"Hmm"
"Don't stress yourself too much Azlaan. Whatever happens, it happens for good" Ahaan smiled at me politely and I nodded.
"So where to?" He asked.
"Mahableshwar?" I asked.
His face lit up immediately.
"Ahira likes that place a lot." He said and I nodded.
"You make the arrangements, I'll leave now" I said and got up.
He nodded. Giving me a hug, he resumed his work.
I exited his house and sat inside my car, bringing it to life. I sped past everything and reached home.
Clicking of cutlery could be heard indicating that dinner was being made. I headed upstairs to freshen up.
My eyes fell on the white door adjacent to ours that had different cartoons designed on it. Taking a deep breath, I marched towards the room. Twisting the knob, I peeked inside the dark room.
Turning the lights on, I looked at the scene in front of me.Toys were all I could see. Everywhere, on the couch, bed, baby cot.
I sat on the couch, taking a doll in my hand. A small smile playing on my lips. So many dreams were shattered into pieces.
I turned towards my right, sensing a presence. Mom smiled at me.
"When did you arrive?" She asked.
"Just now" I answered leaning over on her shoulder.
"I wanted to renovate this room for the baby" I said.
"Who is stopping you? Do it" She said smiling down at me.
"Every dream is shattered mom" I said.
"Then dream again" She said, raking her fingers through my hair.
"Some dreams are meant to be broken Azlaan but that doesn't mean that we should stop dreaming. Instead it means we have to dream again, until we get what we want. Remember one thing, shattered glasses can be glued together. Same goes here, indeed there will be cracks and scars but those scars would be worth it. They will remind you of the struggle you went through. It will let you be proud of who you are when you achieve what you deserve" She said.
"Now tears don't look good on my grown up boy" She pouted, while I chuckled.
"I'm not crying" I said, getting up.
"Sure you are not" She ruffled my hair and kissed my forehead lovingly. How much I want to be in her warmth forever.
"Now go and freshen up, dinner would be ready" She said and left before giving me her most beautiful smile.
I sighed looking around. Dreams can be dreamt again.
Locking the door, I headed towards my room. As usual Ahira was on the balcony. I shook my head and took a pair of fresh clothes headed to the bathroom.
Taking a long and refreshing bath, I came out only to see Ahira sitting in the same position. Sighing I went towards her.
"Ahira, come let's have dinner" I said.
She nodded, got up and went out of the room, not sparing a glance at me. I think I should definitely think of a way to bring my Ahira back!
