It has been a week since the child has arrived. Throughout this time period, I would barely make contact with the child or Hol Horse. Those two seem to get along quite well and they seem quite inseparable. I always see the young boy follow him around as a duckling would to his mama.
At the moment, I have been reading my novel about a horse race across the country. It's quite good actually, I suggest you give it a try. Anyways, while I was enjoying this masterpiece, I heard a tiny knock on my door. At first I pretended I didn't hear anything, but the knocking grew louder and louder.
I set aside my book and sighed. 'Who could it be now?' I thought, 'They all know well enough how important it is to not interuppt me at times like this if they value their meaningless mortal lives'.
In one swift motion, I jumped right out my bed, walked towards the door, and opened it quickly. I looked around. There was no one there. "Playing pranks on me?" I called out, "Why waste my time like this when you can do something meaningful before I stomp out all of your lives!" I didn't really mean it, but I was really getting into that book and was annoyed that I had to stop.
I scoffed, and turned away. I was about to close the door until I heard a small whimper around the corner. Something feels quite off. "Hmm? Who's out there?" I walked to the corner. I prepared my Stand, The World, just in case it was a surprise attack.
Slowly, I approached. The World ready to release a barrage of attacks on whoever was there. I turned the corner, ready to take on any enemy who was there!!
Turns out it was the child Hol Horse took in. Strange, he should be with Hol Horse right now. What was his name? Harnu? No. Runo? That's not right. It was Giorno right? Yeah, that sounds correct.
"Child," I started, "what are you doing here?" I looked down at him. He was holding a small picture book. It was titled "UNAMED CHILDREN'S BOOK BECAUSE THE AUTHOR WAS TOO LAZY TO PROPERLY NAME IT".
The child, Giorno, shyly looked down. He whispered something below his breath that I couldn't quite make out. "Can you speak louder?" I asked and he looked up at me.
"S-sorry. Hat man is asleep," Giorno turned his gaze towards the ground. "Can y-you r-read me a s-story?".
For a moment I stared blankly at him. This child, wandered around my mansion, probably knocking on all the doors, just so someone can read him a story? Shit, that's cute.
He is my son, I guess it wouldn't hurt to humor him for a little bit. "Fine," I said, "I guess I can read you your story." Giorno gave a small smile, and followed me into my room. I hoisted him up onto my bed. His small hands were still holding tightly on to the picture book. I sat against the backboard of my bed with Giorno sitting on my lap.
I was a little annoyed by this, but he looked quite happy and I didn't want to ruin that from him. I grabbed the book and opened it up, where I noticed a quite important detail.
'Shit, shit, shit,' I thought, 'This book is in Japanese'. Giorno looked up expectantly. "I-I'm sorry Giorno," I stuttered, "I c-can't read this," Why the hell am I, DIO, feeling guilt for this? I barely know him. Then again, I kind of relate to this kid since he came from a bad home.
He gave me a reassuring smile, and pointed at the book on the nightstand. It was the book I was currently reading. I looked at him, "You want me to read that? But there's no pictures," He kept smiling at me. 'I guess he doesn't care about the pictures anyways'.
I picked up the book. "Well, I guess you wouldn't mind if I picked up on where I left off," Before I started to read, I gave him a brief recap on what was happening. I explained the race, introduced the characters, and so on.
Right now, the two protagonists are in an encounter with another fellow racer. They're not fighting or anything, but the two characters have a strong distrust to this person.
I read aloud, "Gyro looked over at his friend. " Hey Johnny, tell him to eat shit." Johnny stared back at Gyro and sighed, "Tell him yourself". Gyro gave a quick smile and yelled back at the other racer, "EAT SHIT ASSHOLE! FALL OF YOUR HORSE"". I stopped immediately. I guess I probably shouldn't have said those naughty words. I checked on Giorno, and, well, he looks like he's enjoying himself.
This made me very happy for some reason. I guess this kid's not that bad. I continued to read the story. Along the way we laughed, gasped, and cried. As time passed, I could tell our father and son bond grew a little stronger. I like spending time with him, and wouldn't mind spending more time with him.
After we finished the book, I could hear a distant call out in the hallway.
"HARUNO, HARUNO, WHERE THE 'ELL ARE YA?!?" Giorno perked up and smiled wide.
'Huh' I thought, 'So I guess his name is actually Haruno. Eh I'm already used to calling him Giorno and he doesn't seem to care.'
A bunch of loud panicked knocks came from the other side of my door. I stood up and opened it.
"HAAH, HAAH, LORD DIO, I LOST THE KID," I kind of felt bad for him. There was genuine panic in his eyes, and he still had really bad bed hair. I guess he really cares about the kid. "I LOOKED EVERY WHERE LORD DIO, AND I COULDN'T FIND HIM". He was on the verge of tears.
"Relax, relax, Hol Horse," I gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder, "The kid has been with me this whole time," Hol Horse let out a sigh and smiled. That smile quickly turned into panic, "I'M SO SORRY LORD DIO PLEASE FORGIVE ME, I'M SORRY I WASTED YOUR TIME I KNOW YOUR A BUSY MAN AND ALL AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN SNOOZIN'-"
"Hol Horse. I told you to relax. I don't blame you for snoozing anyway. Nothing exciting really has happened. Except of course, that you're taking care of a child," I walked over to Giorno, who was still on the bed, and picked him up. I carried him over to Hol Horse and transferred the child to him.
"Haruno, I told you not to bug Lord DIO with stuff I could easily do," He scolded, "Don't do it again". Giorno looked down and gave a quick apology. "Don't apologize to me Giorno, apologize to Lord DIO".
"There's no need," I assured, "I had fun reading my book to him and wouldn't mind having him over a little more."
"Oh," Hol Horse smiled, "Well, I'm sorry for scolding you Haruno. Let's go get something to eat, while the sun is still up" They started to walk away until Hol Horse stopped and looked back, "Thank you for taking him in for a bit while I snoozed. I, and I'm sure even Haruno, appreciate it."
With that, they started to walk off. "WAIT," I yelled, a little to loudly. Hol Horse flinched and looked back at me with a look of fear in his eyes. It was more of a "PLEASE LORD DIO PLEASE DON'T KILL ME AND EAT ME I HAVE A LOT TO LIVE FOR" kind of look.
I chuckled, a little too sadistically, which made him even more scared. I gathered myself up and looked him in the eyes.
"Might I join you two for supper?"
A/N Time!
