Aaaaah...finally silence.

Sweet, sweet, silence.

CRASH!

Damn. So, so very close to eight minutes of quiet.

I groaned. "Oh, what now? I can't even have 10 minutes of silence in this house!"

Holly peeked out from the corner of the kitchen. Ugh.

OK, well, um, if you didn't know, Holly and I aren't.... exactly besties.

"Oh, hey, Luce!" She smiled. "Sorry, that was me. I was dusting the living room, and  I knocked over a lamp. I'll replace it, don't worry!"

Of course. She's always cleaning, and dusting, and looking perfect.

And then, there's me, Luce, in saggy pajamas, eating all the cookies, dropping crumbs everywhere.

Yay.

Holly flounced away, leaving a trailing scent of perfume behind her.

I'm always anticipating 8:30 when Holly leaves. To go clean her own house, I presume.

No, I don't hate her, but I kind of wish she had never arrived at Lockwood & Co. She was always rubbing herself all over Lockwood, and it was kind of hard to talk to him.

Oh, while criticizing Holly, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Lucy Carlyle, and I work for Lockwood & Co., an agency that helps investigate and solve hauntings. My colleagues are George Cubbins and Anthony Lockwood. And Holly, the secretary.

Oop, talking about Lockwood, there he is!

"Hey, Luce! Long time no see!" He shot me one of those blinding Lockwood grins. God, I needed to have some sunglasses around.

"Oh, um, hi, Lockwood," I stuttered. "Oh, uh, you just saw me, I think? Like maybe-"

Holly popped out from behind the kitchen island.

"Oh, hey, Lockwood! Um, I need some help reaching some plates from the top shelf? Can you help me?" She flashed him a small little smile.

Lockwood turned his blinding grin to her and said "Of course, Holls, no problem. How may I be of service?"

She waved him over, placed his hands on her hips, and asked him to lift her. She shifted in between his hands, and once she had reached the paper plates, she pretended to lose balance and fell on top of him.

Holly gave a little giggle (everything she does is little) and rubbed herself on him. "Oh, Lockwood, I am SO, sorry! I must have slipped while trying to reach some plates from the back..." Another little giggle.

Lockwood gave a confused laugh and let her go.

By that time, I was long gone.

I didn't really want to see them have their little flirting session. Holly's presence was enough.
