I sighed and rubbed my forehead. Being an Alpha was not easy. All this paperwork was no fun either. I spun my black-leathered office chair and looked out of the big window behind me.
My office faced the Training Grounds which, when not used for training, was used as a park. There were pups running and playing around and mates cuddling on the benches surrounding the area or just walking with their hands held together.
It was honestly a peaceful scene with the green grass and oak trees surrounding the area.
I could just imagine my mate and I cuddling on the grass, with me being in their arms and our pups-
A loud knock and a voice interrupted my thoughts, "Alpha, may I come in?"
"Come in." I answered hurriedly and maybe a tad bit grumpy. Oh, come on leave me alone! I've been cooped up in here all morning!
"Alpha, there is a Messenger from the Full Mond Pack claiming she has a rather important message to deliver." My Beta, Zack, reported.
I raised by eyebrows. What the hell did they want? "She wants to deliver the message to me personally?" I asked, a bit confused but happy since I didn't have to stay in here anymore.
"Yes, Alpha. She said that the message is regarding the relationship of our pack and theirs." Zack said in a monotone voice. He was always serious during duty and it was amusing how his personality changed when he wasn't working or was with his mate.
"Very well. Let's get going and see what's up." I said, getting up from my chair and stretching.

We ran in our wolf forms towards the borders where the Messenger and the Warriors were waiting. We reached there and shifted, grabbing the basketball shorts handed to us and slipping them on.
"State your business here." I demanded with authority.
The Messenger was a she-wolf and was currently in her human form. She slipped an envelope out of her satchel that hung on her side and handed it to me without a word. And with a nod she took off.
My Warriors looked at me for any sign of going after her but I just shook my head. I opened the envelope and took out a piece of parchment.
Dear Alpha Slate,
I am certain you have heard of my succession. My uncle had formed many enemies during his rein but I, Alpha Darrell Mond, plan to change that. For that I invite you to a meeting that shall be held the day after tomorrow and I hope we can put our differences aside and form great allies.
I look forward to your reply.
Regards,
Alpha MondAh, Darrell. She was the niece of the previous Alpha, Alpha David Mond who ruled his pack with terror. Even though the pack lacked trust in their Alpha they were most certainly very successful in defeating threats and keeping their territory protected.
"George-" I looked up to see Zack giving my Head Warrior the look while George squirmed refusing to look at him. I cleared my throat.
"Zack, I'd appreciate it if you didn't eye-fuck my Head Warrior." I mocked with a smirk.
Zack tore his eyes away from his mate and glared at me while muttering something.
"Hm, what was that?" I asked, feigning confusion and cocking my eyebrow up.
"Nothing, Alpha." He replied trying his best not to lose his cool during his duty.
I turned my attention back to George. "I need a pack of 10 warriors prepared to accompany me for a truce with the Full Mond Pack. Five of our best ones and five in-training will do."
When I mentioned the truce with the Full Mond Pack, I could hear surprised gasps from the warriors currently on Border Patrol. Thats when I explained the letter, but Zack seemed suspicious and voiced his thoughts, "Alpha, don't you think this is sudden? What if it's a scheme to attack you or attack the pack while you're away?"
"That's why you are going to be in-charge and ensure nothing of that sort happens. I trust you and your abilities, Beta Zack."
That's when he sighed and gave me a look that meant he wanted to talk to me in private. That's when I also noticed that George's face was red and he looked guilty. Hence, I turned around and said,"We can discuss this in my office."
Zack nodded and turned to give his mate a peck on the forehead while his mate smiled.
And with that we both shifted and ran towards the Pack House.
After reaching there, we shifted and quickly rinsed our hands and feet in the stream nearby.
We passed the hall, nodding at the greetings from fellow pack-members and headed straight into my office.
I sat down on my chair while Zack sat opposite to me.
"What is it?"
Zack sighed again,"Elliot, have you forgotten that George hasn't taken his Heat break this month yet?"
With that my eyes widened. George was an Omega and even though they were physically weaker than Alphas and Betas, he had worked hard and deemed himself strong and worthy to be the Head Warrior of the Moon Slate Pack. But having an Omega as a Head Warrior whose mate was The Beta had its draw-backs. They both had to take a week off every month due to George's monthly Heats.
"When is it due?" I asked rubbing my forehead.
"The exact day you're leaving."
"Oh Goddess. Okay, no need to fret I'll just postpone the meeting. When do you suppose it will be over?"
"Uh, if I'm not wrong, probably the same day next week." Zack answered with his eyebrows furrowed trying to calculate the exact days.
"Okay, then it's settled. I'll write the letter and you can just hand it to our Messenger."
Zack nodded and we got to work.
