He left. He actually left. And this time, it was for real. He was not coming back. Or, at least not for me.

After everything, it was over, and I had no idea what to do now.

"You didn't really expect him to stay forever, did you?" Kat asked.

We were sitting in the middle of the field surrounded by trees, the field he first introduced me to. It was the only place i could think of to go where I felt safe, like it had the essence of him still here, but I knew that was stupid. I hadn't wanted my two friends to follow me, but they had, and now it wasn't our place anymore.

I wondered if it ever was.

No response to Kat's question left my mouth, I guess I hadn't expected him to, but that didn't change anything.

"You two," Austin started before pausing, as though considering whether or not he should finish his sentence. "You two were always walking a fine line, it was only bound that one of you would fall eventually."

"Why didn't he try?" were the only words I could manage to conjure.
