Melaina groaned at the sound of her alarm before slamming her hand on it making it quiet. She checked her phone before climbing out of bed, showering and changing into her mom jeans, a white shirt, dr martens, and black baggy knit cardigan.

She grabbed her red bandana, sprayed and brushed her hair and tied it on. She put on a bit of makeup before getting her phone and going downstairs for breakfast.

"Hey, dad." She greeted as she pecked his cheek and sat down in her usual seat.

Her sisters and aunt came down shortly after her. Aunt Lisa had been living with her brothers family ever since Diana left just to help raise the kids.

"So guys you excited for school today?" Edward Dumont asked his daughters.

"Dad you've been asking us the same question for 10 years and the same answers you've gotten is..." Tia Prince-Dumont started before pointing to her sister to finished.

"Nope, not even close." Lainie finished as she and Tia fist pumped.

"Who knows maybe something interesting might happen today," Lisa comments before eating another fork full of eggs.

"Maybe," Lainie responded with a shrug.

"Dad," Lyta called as she placed her fork on her plate and swallowed.

"Yeah, hun?"

"We might be home late today, I have a project that I need to finish with Robby and Tia has a volleyball thing," Lyta informed her step-dad.

"Ooo you have a project with your dear Roberto." Lainie mocked under her breath for Tia to hear and stifle a laugh while Lyta glared at her.

"Girls." He spoke as he looked at the brown-skinned teenagers who looked down as soon as they met his gaze. "It's okay if you're late just call me if anything happens." He finished and received a nod from his stepdaughter.

Hippolyta and Melaina had just dropped off Hestia and were now exiting the blue jeep and were making their way across the street to their school.

"Hey, loser!" Vivian called to Lyta making the raven-haired girl turn and run over to her group if friends who embraced her with hugs and high fives.

Lainie waited on the steps for Joey and Josephine. She waited for a few minutes before the Zarick twins tapped her shoulder and pulled her into a hug.

Joey went ahead while the two best friends caught up.

"Dude, my mom keeps on asking me where I want to go for college. I'm just like I don't even know what I want for dinner." Josie ranted making the curly-haired girl chuckle.

"Wow, that sounds like her." Lainie laughed.

"Yeah true, I know she's only looking out for me but I'm only a sophomore you know?"

"Yeah. But we seriously need to start soon." Lainie responded as the reached their lockers.

They were getting their books when Josephine noticed a new face in the halls. You could tell she was new, it wasn't that hard. So she tapped Melania's shoulder and they waved at the curly-haired blonde who waved back.

Courtney, who was the blonde girl, mainly focused and locked eyes on Josephine who sent her a friendly smile.

Who knew that their lives were about to change just because of one girl?
