He looks over at me and we make eye contact for a split second, after which I focus back on dad.
"Now that you're safely at the station I think it's best I apperate to the school. I need to discuss something with Dumbledore. Will you be alright on your own?" Dad asks me.
"Yes I will. I wanted to use the train ride to make some friends anyway!" I say with a smile.
"Alright. Play nice, Cecilia."
"Yes, Dad."
I hear a quick woosh and dad is gone. I have about 5 minutes to find somewhere to sit. I go down a few rows, all of which are full. I see a fluffy brown haired girl sitting with a awkward looking boy, and i decide they have enough problems.
I reach a row that's completely empty, but i want to make friends, so i'll see if there are any seats that actually have people in them. I approach a booth that has a boy with black hair, and a boy with ginger hair. They seem nice enough, maybe i could ask them if they know if any people i could sit with. or maybe i could sit with them?
"Um, hi! I'm Cecilia, and I was wondering if I could sit with you, or if you know of somewhere I could sit? I'd prefer to not sit alone, but-"
I noticed them staring at me with dumbfounded expressions.
"Um- sorry for rambling, i should just go.."
I turned to leave, but i heard them talking.
"I'm telling you Harry! She looks EXACTLY like you!"
"You're being ridiculous, Ron"
I was so busy listening to what they had to say, I bumped into someone.
"I-I'm so sorry, I wasn't paying attentio-"
Then i saw who i had bumped into.
"Oí!" He looked mad, then he saw who I was. "Hey! You're that girl from yesterday, right?"
"Um, yeah I am" I reply avoiding eye contact.
"You should come sit with me."
"Sure!" I said a little too eagerly. " I mean, Sure. Sounds cool." I try to say cooly.
He ignores my attempt at being cool, and he asks, "You seen any empty seats? I cant seem to find any..."
"Yeah, actually, follow me" I say as I grab his hand and pull him along.
We go past the compartment with Harry and Ron, who look at us funny. And then stop before the compartment with the girl with the funny hair, and the awkward boy. We sit diagonally from Harry and Ron, Who continue to give us funny looks.
We get into the booth, him sitting across from me.
We sit awkwardly for a while until he said,
"So, I never got your name..."I had relaxed a little bit, so smugly replied with, "Well, I never got yours."
"I asked you first." he said sharing the smug look.
"Fine. My name is Cecilia. Your turn."
"Draco."
"That's a nice name." I said.
"I know. Yours isn't too bad either I suppose."
I roll my eyes at his vein comment and he said, "What's with your eyes?"
"Oh, uh, my dad said I was born with blue eyes, but I have a special condition called heterochromia which makes this one green, I replied pointing to my right eye.
"I see," he says, his face showing no interest.
He noticed my cat. "What's its name?"
"His name is Charcoal" I said, petting him.
"It suits him nicely." He said.
"My dad named him," I say smiling softly.
He got up and came to my side of the booth. " Charcoal was sitting between us and purring in slumber.
"May I?" Draco said gesturing to Charcoal, wanting to pet him too.
"Of course," I say.
"I've always wanted a cat, by my mother is deathly allergic." He smiles sadly.
"I'm sorry to hear that, Draco. Feel free to pet Charcoal whenever." I smile at him.
"Well would you look at that Crabb, Malfoy's got a girlfriend!" an unknown voice said.
The other voice laughed and said," You're right, Goyle!"
Draco and I look up at the two laughing faces. "Ha ha," Draco laughs sarcastically. "Can-it you fat oafs."
Crabb and Goyle sit down across from us, and immediately start cracking jokes. They're actually pretty funny. They have an intense sense of humor though, but funny nonetheless. About half way through the train ride, someone knocks on the glass of the booth. We all stop laughing and look at the unexpected guest, it was the fluffy haired girl from before. "Pardon me, but have you seen a toad? My friend, Neville's lost one."
"Im sorry, but we haven't seen a toad." I say before Crabb or Goyle can say anything rude.
"Ok, well thanks anyway." she says. "I'm Hermione Granger. And you are?"
"I'm Cecilia Snape. Nice to meet you."
We shake hands and he disappears down the hall.
"She seems nice," I say.
"Your last name is Snape? As in Severus Snape?" Draco says quizzically.
"Um, yeah. I'm his adopted daughter." I say with an obvious look on my face.
"Awww lucky! you're related to a Professor!!" Crabb whines.
"What happened to your real parents?" Goyle asks.
"They're dead." I say my face clear of emotion."Really? How'd it happen?," Draco says.
"Eh, I don't know, it was probably something epic though." I say looking back down at Charcoal.
There was silence for a moment. Until Goyle said,"Hey! Maybe you could extra credit if something, since your dad is the professor and all...""Trust me, he wouldn't. He's made it very clear that he's going to treat EVERYONE exactly the same," I say reassuringly.
"Even the famous Harry Potter?" Crabb says.
"Ugh. I really can't go anywhere without hearing that name," I say with an annoyed tone.
Draco seems a bit taken aback by my sudden bitterness. "Whoa! Someone's gotten a bit sour. What's wrong with Potter?"
"People just do NOT shut up about that guy, literally. Its 'boy who lived this' and 'he who shall not be named' that. It's just so annoying," I say a bit upset.
"I definitely have to agree with you," Draco says while Crabb and Goyle nod in agreement.
We continue talking, and the train ride soon ends and we arrive at Hogwarts.
