I was coming home from a late shift from the hospital, when I got a phone call. It was my wife Veronica. When I answered I didn't hear anything just silence, I kept saying "Hello.." Listening to hear a response, but nothing. Just when I was about to hang up I hear in a raspy whispered voice, "Aaron.....please..hurry." And the call went dead.
Immediately I was speeding through every street, passing red lights, hitting cars to move out of the way. I was close to my house, when I saw the black smoke filling the air above my neighborhood.
As I stopped my car right in front of my house, it was engulfed in bright orange and red flames, you could feel the heat in the middle of the street. I didn't care what was going to happen to me, I wanted to save my wife, so I ran straight through the burning door.
I was now inside the house looking for my wife, but the flames were too hot I could barely open my eyes. I already had multiple burns on my hand and arms, but I couldn't leave yet, I was drenched in sweat, covered in ashes, and my clothes were burning off. I checked the living rooms, the kitchen, the bedrooms, and there was no sign of her. There was only one place left and that was the attic.
There were only minutes left, till the house crumbled down, so time wasn't on my side. The attic ladder was already put down and when I finally got up, that's when I finally saw Veronica, right there motionless on the ground bleeding from her chest, and that's when I knew, she was already gone, and I was too late. This was no accident here, it was murder. I lifted her up, and put her over my shoulders, I ran as fast as I can to the front door, but it had already collapsed, so did the back door. We were trapped inside the burning house.
I looked around franticly looking for a way to escape, but nothing, then I noticed a wall about to fall, it was cracked and the only thing holding the wall up is just one piece of wood and I figured I can break it if I hit it hard enough. I took a few steps back, and I had an explosive start, and in a second I was on the other side of the wall. I had fainted right when I was outside with Veronica right by my side. I had broken my right arm and had multiple burns around my body, but i had saved Veronica from the fire, but not from murder who killed her before.
