POV: Harry This mornings send off had not been easy, Mrs Black and Mrs Weasleys screeches made concentrating on anything extra difficult. Then Sirius had decided he wanted to come along but I'm secretly glad I could say goodbye. Then Hermione and Ron left me because they had prefect duties to attend to so I was left in a compartment with Ginny, Neville and some other girl named Luna I don't really know. To top my morning off Cho walked in on all of us covered in some kind of liquid glue from Neville's Mimbulus Mimbletonia. I thought that things would turn around when Hermione and Ron came back and It did but only for a little while.
When I stepped off the train I was compelled by the black skeletal horses that were pulling the carriages that unironically apparently only me and Loony Lovegood could see, and Hagrid was missing from the start of year feast but in his place was Professor Grubbly-Plank. And, one of the people from my trial was sitting among the other professors. So to say I had a bad morning is nothing short of an understatement.
The sorting hats new song filled the halls giving warning that the best way to stand strong was to stand together which was entirely rubbish if it thought I'd ever be standing side by side with a Slytherin. There was however on extremely interesting part of this mornings sorting. After all of the first graders were sorted into their seperate houses three people who would be joining my year were also sorted. All of which were Gryffindor. The look of everyone around me faces assured me that this sort of thing has never happened before.
Obviously because they couldn't sit with the first graders I made room near me for them all to sit. There was two girls a blond one named Annabeth and a brunette named Harriet and one boy also brunette named Percy. It was obvious that the blond girl and the boy were dating not because of how close they were sitting to each other but because of how the acted around each other. They both at the start of the feast walked over to a fire and chucked a helping of their food in which had the whole schools attention but it didn't seem to faze them. The brunette girl didn't look like she came with them however she was awfully good at making conversation.
By the end of the feast I felt as if I had learnt everything I could about the three of them because they all had one clear thing in common they all had secrets however big or small. Hermione and Annabeth hit it off to a great start as did Ron and Percy leaving me and Harriet to talk to each other which was not at all a bad thing. It seems that however much they might be keeping their secrets they would soon become some of my closest friends after Ron and Hermione of course.
Full of food I decided I wouldn't hang around in the common room but instead go straight up to our dorm which we would now be sharing with Percy. It seemed that I couldn't even go to bed peacefully as I had to endure Seamus calling me a liar as if I had some how killed Cedric myself. I knew that this year wouldn't be easy for me none at Hogwarts were but I didn't fully understand how hard It would end up being.
POV: Harriet Despite the fact that I had been here for less then a day I already felt like I belonged. It was a comfort to know that I was not the only newbie In my year I had Percy and Annabeth. I had originally met them at Kings Cross Station chatting about how they had no idea where platform 9 3/4 was. It was only by chance that we saw a family run straight towards the barrier between platform 9 and 10. Without any time to over think we all quickly followed running through it together.
The platform was packed with parents saying goodbye to their children it seems that us three were the only ones who had come solo. We quickly made our way into an empty compartment near the back. It could be the mere fact that we were new but no one else joined us. Annabeth and Percy talked quietly together for most of the train ride me peering over my book to only join Into their conversation a couple of times. If i'm I being honest I did spend most of my time listening into their conversation and from the little I heard they were the biggest fans of greek mythology or well or they were demigods.
See that's the thing about me I have encountered almost every type of supernatural type being wether it be a werewolf, Shadowhunter or even a fae i've met one and well I am one. I don't really understand how but it has something to do with my parents being who they are and I was allegedly cursed as a child to bear the gifts of all those who weren't mundane. I had hoped that I would only need to use my gifts rarely but the need for them became like a monthly occurrence.
When we got of the train we were lead into carriages pulled by skeletal horses that Percy, Annabeth and myself were all amazed but also a little scared off. It was only until I got sorted into Gryffindor did I realise that they likely have had no other students come to school this late. As I had all of the schools attention I did a little scan of everybody and there was one boy who caught my eye. He was this pale blond boy who was obviously popular as everyone was crowded around him but I could tell from looking at him that he felt completely utterly alone.
As the three of us awkwardly made our way towards the Gryffindor table unsure where to sit a brunette boy with a little lightning bolt scare on his forehead made room for us. It was only until an unhealthy amount of food appeared in front of us that I realised how starving I was. My little demigod theory about Percy and Annabeth was proven correct when I watched them scrape part of their food into the fire a habit I stopped doing less then 2 years ago.
As soon as I arrived in the common room I followed Hermione up to bed with Annabeth not far behind. I share a dorm with them and some other girls I had yet to learn the name off. Due to coming to school late Hermione was giving us a little briefing of what she had learnt so far mixed in with some of the adventures herself, Ron and Harry had gotten themselves into. It was only when she mentioned he who shall not me named did I see Annabeth become 10 x more interested. After what had seemed hours of listening to Hermione we went to bed with the time on my watch saying it was past midnight. What a great way to start the school year but with a terrible sleep pattern, I mean nothing new I suppose.
