“Don’t forget your jacket!” I shouted to Arianna, who was already running toward the school’s entrance.

She twirled around and faced me, a small smile playing in her ever-rose tender lips. She always forgot her jacket. My daughter was majestically flawed; she was perfect.

“Thanks, Dad! See you at 3 when you come to pick me up! And remember that we have a special date!” she chimed in. Her sweet voice was the most delightful noise in the entire world. It was incredibly similar to hers…

“Of course I won’t forget, my love! Have a nice day, birthday girl!” I said.

She turned around and marched her way into the building.

I took off and just as I was driving past the urbanization I noticed an envelope that was lying at Arianna’s seat. It was labeled “To: Daddy”

Odd. Why would my baby write a letter to me? She always told me everything face to face; she absolutely trusted me.

I opened it and smiled at her childish handwriting. How I loved this child! Then, I read.

“Hi Daddy:

First of all, excuse for my ugly handwriting. I’m still trying to learn how to write as pretty as you or Mommy do. I’ve been thinking and I already know what I want as my birthday present. I want you to read Mommy’s journal to me. I wanted Mommy to be here too, but she’s still in her voyage. Daddy, please. Do it. I want to know all about you and her. I’m big enough to listen to it all. PLEASEEEEE. I’ve been a good girl… You can ask Santa.

I <3 you and Mommy so much

                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Arianna

I stared at the slip of paper blankly.

The day has come. Arianna is ready to listen all about Alissa and me. I’m granting my baby girl her wish.
