Ten years earlier...
Unknown POV
The Brothers, Ivan and Erik, sons of The Great Alexander Nilsen, stood at the foot of the open chapel ruins. The holy land beneath their feet hummed, the magic in this land was older than the king himself. Great stone statues of the Moon Goddess and her many daughters surrounded the pair. Behind the thick arch an altar, also made of stone, the two male figures were slightly hidden from the observers view. The man watching the Princes was tucked into the treeline behind them.
From his perspective he could see Ivan, the youngest of the two was kneeling before the alter, his demeanour cold he was motionless much like the air around him. Erik the king's first son was kneeling on one leg, elbows resting against the thigh of the other leg. He was muttering an ancient prayer; one the man could not quite make out against the soft swirl of the wind.
They had been here for quite the considerable length of time. Perhaps two hours, the duo's horses were becoming restless and the man was all too aware that he was easily detectable. He must leave before they did.
But his mission was incomplete, and his sire would be quite unimpressed if he did not return with the information that he had been sent to gather. Intervention seemed to be the only option. And so, the man, from his position on the treeline pulled back his hood, revealing his face to the world for the first time in more years than he cared to count.
"Kan månes lys frigjøre oss" (may the light of the moon set us free)
Fire lit in the man's veins, his lips pulling into a harsh grimace as the spell fell into place. The air became hot and heavy, a swirl of wind carrying his words off and towards the men who still remained deep in thought at the altar.
Ivan was unaware of the feeling that rocked through his brother. But Erik released a guttural growl, the beast within him flaring up unexpectedly, taking him by surprise as he fought back to regain control, shaking his head.
The man smiled, returning the hood to its position over his face, now things had been set into motion it would not be long. Soon, the kingdom would see firsthand the power of the moon.
And with that the kingdom would fall into chaos.
Ready for Erik to lead, to save the people from the threats that lurk in the future.
