"Help!Help!"

His nails scratched the leather as his body contorts in a fetal position, cramped inside a suitcase that was being dragged by an unknown person.

"HEEEEELLLLPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!"

"Shut up." A deep cold voice answered.

"You scream like a girl." He giggled.

"W-HO-WHO ARE YOU????!!!!"

".. WHY'RE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?!"

"....P-please... I have a family! My son is only 6 months old and mother is sick!"

"....I'm the only breadwinner in the family!!!"

"W-WHAT DO YOU WANT!" His voice shooked as he was being dragged in a bumpy road.

"C-CAR? M-MONEY? I don't have much... but you can take it all!"

"Dignity." The voice answered.

His hands fell from scratching the leather. His feet went cold from the water seeping beneath him, but it was nothing compared to the coldness he feels inside him. He peeked at a small opening at the edge of the suitcase, eager to see the face behind the voice which he now recognizes.

"Can you give that back?" A man said as he glared at him from the opening.

".... At this state, I guess not." He chuckled as he pushed the suitcase from him.

"Y-you!" The man shouted from inside. "YOU!!!!!"

"YOUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!"

"Swim fishy... swim." He chuckled before turning his back, walking towards the light of his car.

/Yibo's POV/

Leave of Absence

"You have the worst timing Detective Wang." To my surprise, Chief Liu slid my leave form back to me.

"B-but."

"I know your getting married and having baby soon, but your ex partner was one step ahead of you...." He showed him a folder. ".... He filed his retirement papers early this morning."

"W-HAT?! JANG?" My eyed widen in shock. "But I thought he'll stay for atleast a month for the turn over?"

"I don't know... YOU ask him." He replied.

I bowed and took my leave before dashing to his office.

"JANG!" I slammed the door opened and saw him packing his things. "What the fu---" He stuffed my mouth with a bun.

"god bless your cussing early in the morning." He said.

I took the bun out of my mouth and followed him around as he packed up his things. "Why all of a sudden?!"

"What all of a sudden do you mean? I was officially retired 2 weeks ago." He said.

"Yeah. But I thought you'd stay for atleast a month for the turn over." I said.

"Your new resident doctor is competent enough." He let out a sigh and put a box down. "...he will do just fine." He then looked me straight in the eye. "Why don't you consider changing district? I heard Yiyang's parents live in the nearby province... how about a change of environment?"

"A change of what?" Dr Xiao entered holding a cup of coffee.

My flesh tingled as the man smirked at me.

I let out a deep sigh as I avoided his gaze, remembering the awkwardly sensual dream I just dreamt last night.

"How's your sleep last night?" Dr Xiao asked.

"It was okay." I said. "Had a weird dream... but It was the first time I slept 8 hours straight after a long time."

"I told you a little love cuddle is all you need." He winked at me.

I chuckled. "Now, don't you pull that stunt again. Junping off the beam to get a first hand experience? If you keep doing that in every case, you'd be long dead before you even reach Jang's age."

"Okay." He smiled. "Sure. You said so."

".....How'd you even brought me home last night?"

"I didn't another cop brought you home after that horrendous black out." He chuckled.

"Which one?" I asked.

"I don't know. I don't know people here yet. All I know is that he was wearing a uniform." Dr Xiao said.

"You went out with him last night?" Jang glared at me as I scratched my nape, his eyes fixated on my shoulders.

"Uhm... yea." I said.

"You need a hand?" Dr Xiao was about to lift Jang's box when he slapped his hand.

A behavior very unlikely of Jang.

Dr Xiao pursed his lips as he stepped back. "Okay. I understand. Sometimes I'm possesive of my stuff too." He leaned against the table and sipped his coffee. "I don't want anyone touching what's mine." He said.

"Where are you staying now?" I asked Jang, knowing he had been estranged from his wife for the past few years.

"I'll stay over my second son's house for while waiting for my farm house to finish." He said.

"You should've waited for your farm house to finish before leaving." I mumbled.

Jang pulled me into an embrace. "Take my advice." He whispered eyeing the streaks on my neck before looking at Dr Xiao who was drinking coffee, a patch on his neck.

He hit my back hard before picking up his box. Stupid prick. He mumbled.

I took his box and escorted him to the parking.

I stared in awe as I closed his car compartment. I was still in disbelief. Jang is finally leaving me after all those years.

"I don't think I can do it." I said.

"You have to." He answered. "You have a family now."

He grabbed my shoulders and looked me straight in the eye. "Look kiddo."

"....at my age, I have lots of regrets... one of which is loosing the love of my life. So please... don't go looking for strange adventures. The beauty in life is through simple things."

I chuckled. "Look at you old man, you're giving me life advice now."

"I'm serious." He said.

"Avoid that man. He's dangerous."

"Which man?" I asked.

"9 o clock." He said.

I turned to the left and saw Dr Xiao staring at us from the windows.

"Just..." He squeezed my shoulder. "god damn! Just stop fooling around you stupid kid!" He said before he entered his car.

"...Take the meds I gave you." He said as he started the engine.

"...Sometimes ignorance is best way to save a man's sanity."

He said as he drove off.

"Detective Wang! Detective Wang!" Someone paged from the walkie talkie.

"New body found, Han river!"
