Chapter 8

"What's going on?" I asked as they dragged me to the car.

"We're taking you back to the castle immediately" Tamena said calmly, "there was a fire and your parents could have been seriously injured"

"Oh please take me back immediately" I cried "I need to make sure my parents are ok"

As they loaded me onto the limo I could not help but think of my parents. Are they ok? What about the kingdom? What will I do without them? As the questions poured into my mind I did not even realize that we were at the castle already, tears came to my eyes and I could contain myself, I jumped the moving limo, ran though the large crowd that had formed around the burning building and I started screaming

"MOOMMM DDAAADDD" but there was no reply then one of the servants that were standing nearby calmly waked over to me and said

"Your parents did not escape the fire we believe they are still inside" she timidly said looking down at her toes

"WHAT?!" I cried, then without even thinking I ran towards the burning door, kicked it down and ran inside. As I made my way through the smoky hallways I started coughing and eventually started losing my breath when all of a sudden I heard coughing from up the stairs in my parent's room. I ran up the stairs jumping over burning wood that fell from the ceiling and looking up to make sure no more fell on me. As I ran into the room I saw my mom lying on the ground motionless covered in blood and my dad coughing up blood as he tried the claw towards her.

"DAD "I cried "we have to leave, we must go now" I said with tears in my eyes.

"NO" he screamed "I will not leave the woman I vowed to stay with and love forever"

"But Dad you will die if you stay here"

"Then so be it" he said finally getting over to mom

"Here" he said giving me his necklace "it's the other side of the key to the gold room together your mother's now yours and mine open it do not give these keys to anyone especially Tamena, you must not trust her, she started all of this" he said in between coughs

"But dad" I insisted "I cannot leave you here to die" I said with huge drops of tears flowing down my face

"you must go my child you will make a great queen someday, I want you to go to your uncles kingdom and seek refuge take the servants with you for most of them live here with us at the castle he will understand, now run as fast as you can and don't look back" he said pushing me away

"But dad"

"GO"

Then taking very slow steps back I turned and ran as fast as I could. As I ran away the ceiling started to fall behind me and I began to cry........ no wail in agony as I kept running as fast as my legs could go. Then I ran down the stairs and out the back door. When I arrived a safe distance away from the castle I turned around and watched as the whole roof came crumbling down. Tears began to pour down my face and I slowly fell to the ground and I buried my face in my hands and screamed at the sky.

"How could this happen to me?" I screamed," why me? Why would this happen to me?"

I them felt a very soft gentle touch on my shoulder and swiftly turned around to see Hunter standing right behind me.

"Your father told me to take care of you even if my life depends on it" he softly said "I will never leave you, you can trust me"

"Thanks Hunter" I said in between sobs "but that is not going to bring my parents back"
