"Although there are some restraints on your activities, you are still more than free to take modelling stints. As of now, you have schedules for brand endorsements and magazine photoshoots. The management are still processing and filtering your other projects, maybe by the end of this month, you'll have your first acting project in a while."Jennie nodded after hearing her manager briefed her of new schedule.
Wearing her favorite short black dress that showed her figure and black stilettos, she looked bored as she skimmed through the magazine she was reading. Her legs crossed as her lips pressed in a grim line.
"I don't want to take any acting projects anymore," she determined which caught her manager by surprise.
"What?"
"You heard me right and clear, Jeongyeon."
The coldness of her voice made Jeongyeon tremble in fear. Jennie glanced at her once and saw how she shifted on her seat. She threw the magazine down on the center table and firmly looked at her as if telling her isn't enough to make her understand so she needs to show her how determined she is.
"I..." Jeongyeon nodded hesitantly. "Y-yeah, I'll tell them you won't take acting projects for the meantime–"
"Tell them I won't anymore."
"B-but Jennie–"
"Photoshoot for Vogue is next week, right? Are there any more shoots prior to that?" she asked as she came across a photo from the business magazine.
Her brows creased upon looking at it. It was a photo of a big businessman but that's not what caught her attention. It was the two women behind the man. One was wearing a formal dress and the other one, who was very familiar, was in her black suit and was wearing an earpiece. The latter was obviously the bodyguard.
"Lisa..." she uttered, staring at the woman in suit. She was surprised at first but quickly recalled something.
"I was deployed as a bodyguard for a VIP..." was what's written in Lisa's letter a month after the incident happened, when she was dreadly waiting to hear some news about her then receives a letter out of nowhere. It was the first and last letter Lisa sent her explaining what happened to her.
Jennie understood how difficult their situation was so she really had no time to get mad at anyone when she knew they were both trying to reach out during that hard time. She had no way to know Lisa's whereabouts even when she feels like she's just around somewhere in the city knowing the latter now works as a bodyguard.
She already concluded that the unknown woman in the photo must be the VIP that Lisa was talking about. If she could just...
"Hey, Jeongyeon," she called her manager and showed her the photo. "Do you know this woman?"
"Yeah, I think that's Lisa. What is she doing—"
"I know it's Lisa. But I was asking if you know the girl she's with," Jennie glared.
Jeongyeon cleared her throat. "N-no. I'm not sure. I haven't seen her before."
"But you can find a way to know about her, right?"
"I can but it would be hard. Plus, I'm not interested with these kind of business thingy personalities—" Jeongyeon paused when she saw Jennie's sharp gaze. "But maybe I can try," she said out of fear.
"You can get me to the same event this person attends right?"
Jennie thought it was the most plausible way to see Lisa without compromising both their careers. She'd attend an event as a guest or representative while Lisa is also on her duty.
