It was a miserable Seattle morning, Addison is sat in the attending's lounge doing her charts when a page takes her to the ambulance bay. "What have we got"asked Addison "addie its Derek" replied Richard "what do you mean it's Derek?" She questioned "Derek has been in a car accident and is on his way in" he replied "what no" her eyes fill with tears as she stumbles back to the wall and slides down it and starts crying. As the ambulance arrives addie jumps to her feet and rushes to dereks bed side. "Derek? Baby? Can you hear me? It's me addie I'm here" sniffled addison. Derek lays there unconscious "Addison you need to let us work" Bailey exclaims "I'm not leaving my husband" she sobbed. Derek begins to flat line and addie is dragged out of the room and she starts pacing the relative room panting crying and shaking "I can't lose him I just can't" she declared. She runs her fingers through her hair "I just can't"

2 MONTHS LATER

Derek is awake in the icu and Addison is paged. She runs to dereks room. "Montgomery where ya been" Derek exclaims. "Derek oh my god you bastard I thought you were dead" she cried tears falling down her cheek "hey hey what's the tears for ? I'm alive addison you won't get rid of me that easily now wipe them tears and give me a kiss" he states, addison runs to him and kisses him passionately "woah slow down jeez I need to breath" he jokes and wipes his fore head. "Sorry darling" she replies. " addison I need a favour Can you to go to my office and get me some paper work please" he asks. " uh uh nope rest Derek you nearly died you're not working until you're discharged or better yet cleared" she said. " you can't do this to me I need work this hospital can't run without a chief" he replied in a state of stress. "Derek you nearly died you nearly died on me you're not working" she cries. "Okay I'm sorry" he finishes. "Oh I have you a gift" she adds. Addison pulls out a box and hands it to him. "What the hell is that" he exclaims, wiping his hand on his blanket. "I'm pregnant Derek" she announced with a smile on her face "you could have warned me before I picked up the pee stick" he laughs and places it back in the box. "I'm sorry but you're going to be a dad" she smiles

9 MONTHS LATER

Derek is paged to the ob "Derek, addison is going into labour" Richard explains "what where how what" he questions, he starts to sweat and pant. "Derek breathe she will be okay" Richard reassures him. "I'm not worried about her I'm worried about me I'm going to be a father" half smiles and runs into the room. "Ahhhhh" Addison screams. Derek faints "will someone pick him up ple ahhhhhh ase"
She screams. "Woah" Derek says " I'm going to be a father" Derek rushes to her side and holds her hand. "Ahhhh" addison screams and squeezes dereks hand "aghhh" Derek yells. The baby is born and the baby is handed to Derek "what are we going to call him" he asks Derek hands the baby to Addison. "How about mark? Mark Sloan Montgomery shepherd? We could name him after mark oh god I miss that man" addison adds and Derek shoots her a look. " I love it that man was taken from us all way too soon we should go and visit the grave when you're able " he replies. Dr bailey walks in "hey guys"" hey dr bailey" Derek adds "do we have a name yet?" She asks "yes we do, mark Sloan Montgomery shepherd" he states. "What the hell did you name him after that man whore for?" She questions "dr bailey don't forget who you're speaking with and about mark Sloan is one of our oldest and best friends and I am your chief of surgery so please have some respect when talking to me and about mark Sloan" he raged. "Woah baby calm down she meant nothing by it" addie says looking at Derek concerned. "Im sorry chief shepherd" bailey interjects. "No I'm sorry dr bailey I had no right to speak to you in that way"
He says solemnly.

2 MONTHS LATER

"Derek can I speak with you please" addie asks "of course baby" he replied. "I'm worried about you" she says concerned. "Why I'm fine" he replies." I don't think you are lately you've been really short tempered with me dr bailey well with everyone and it's concerning me so out with what's wrong" she insisted. "fine! I have a huge GBM" Derek stuttered. "And what's that?" Montgomery asked. " it's a glioblastoma multiforme and that is the most aggressive cancer the brain can take and it's terminal I won't survive it" he informed "what how long do you have?" She questions "I was given 6-12 months"
" you'll fight this you're Derek shepherd I won't let you die"

10 YEARS LATER

Addison returns home from picked mark up from school to find Derek collapsed on the floor of the bedroom she immediately calls for an ambulance "mark go and play in your room now" he runs into his bedroom "god damnit Derek can you hear me? It's me addie! You can't die you bastard you can't do it! Please don't leave us" the ambulance arrives and Derek is taken to grey sloan memorial hospital. "Addison it's time, it's time to say goodbye to him okay I've had Richard go and get mark you need to say your goodbyes okay and I'll leave you to it" bailey  concluded. "No no no he can't be he has to live I'm pregnant doctor bailey I'm pregnant 6 months pregnant and I can't do it alone I just can't do it" addie cries. "Yes you can addison Montgomery you are one of the strongest women I know you will be able to do this and no matter what everyone here will help you in any way they can they love both you and your husband okay now go in and say your goodbyes and if I was you I wouldn't tell him about the bun"
Bailey reassured her and addie walks in. "Derek?" She says. "Addie is that you?" He adds "yeah"she replied. "I'm dying aren't I" "yes you are derek" they both said. "I have loved you since I met you 30 years ago in that bloody conference room at med school when mark slapped my ass and I punched you and not him I've always loved you derek shepherd and yes we've had our ups and downs but I never stopped loving you oh jeez now I'm going to cry i want you to know that no matter what mark and I will be safe and we will never forget you my love I'll miss you forever okay my darling" addie sobs "addison I love you most dearly and the moment I clapped eyes on you I knew that I'd marry you one day and here we are married with a child I want you to know one thing. That when I do pass over I will be up there with mark and Lexie and bizzy and the captain watching Over you both and we won't let anything happen to either of you okay now go I don't want you to watch me die okay I love you addison Montgomery" Derek says through his tears
"No I'm not leaving you not now not ever" she adds "well then go to my office and in the bottom drawer is a safe the combination is 2:2.9.0 and there is a will and some gifts for you mark and the baby in your stomach that I want you to have"he says "okay I'll go and get them" she  goes to his office "it's a beautiful day to save lives" Derek gasps during his final minutes before he dies. Addie returns to the room to find derek dead and she screams and falls to the floor "Derek no come back to us please we can't live with out you I won't live without you.

2 MONTHS LATER

Addison is in a room in labour. And a baby boy is born doctor karev walks in. "Hey what's his name?" Alex asked. "He's called Derek shepherd jr" she says with tears falling down her cheeks "that's beautiful he is severely missed by us all addison" Alex assures her " I know" she says as tears fall. "Me and your kids are going to be just fine Derek do you hear me we will be fine I promise now rest up there and make sure we are okay I love you derek Christopher shepherd we love you" she whispers. Addison puts Derek in the stroller and picks mark up from daycare and they walk out of shepherd grey sloan memorial hospital with their heads held high and dereks name tattooed in their hearts for ever and they all lived happily afterwards
