Chapter 4: Formal Answers.

The next day, Aarika tried to tell Dylan she couldn't go to the dance; He wouldn't have any of that though. "Look Dylan I really wish things wouldn't have been this way but I can't GO" she said stressing the go part.

"Daylore are you playing me?"

"What do you mean?" She asked confused.

"I mean, did you skip on purpose so you wouldn't have to go?" Dylan questioned. Aarika blinked and sighed. "No Dylan. Really, I just wanted to think. I wouldn't do that y'know." The bell rang interrupting their discussion. Aarika sighed and went to her locker. Surprisingly Sam was there.

"Hey, Aarika." He greeted formally. Aarika stared at him for a while before replying. "Hey Sam.." Sam ran is hands through his brown hair and sighed. He felt really guilty for yelling at her but at the same time he knew Aarika needed to hear that. "Look I.." he started but Aarika stopped him.

"No don't okay Sam? You were right. I was insensitive and a horrible friend lately..." Aarika bit her lip unsure of what to say next. "I'm sorry for ignoring your feelings. But...." Sam braced himself, because he knew what was coming next. "I can't return your feelings." The warning bell rang signalling their conversation was at an end. Sam smiled sadly and nodded. He chuckled and grabbed his books. "Hey at least you gave me a nice answer this time. Just for the record, I'm not sorry about what I said." Aarika bit her lip and let him continue. "Just the way I said it." he finished, closing his locker. Aarika grinned faintly.

"See you around Aarika." Sam turned and walked away. Aarika knew he was crying.

Aarika made sure to go straight home after school. Her brother was already home so she wasn't alone. Joey was in the living room with Corine, his girlfriend. Aarika liked Corine. She was nice, very gentle, and delicate. Corine was average hight, with platnum blonde hair and gray eyes. Though recently Aarika had been a bit jealous of her and Joey's relationship.

As soon as Aarika shut the front door Aarika found herself in a bear hug. "How's my little delinquent today?" Her brother joked. Rika rolled her eyes and tried to push away before she ran outt of oxygen.

"I'm not a criminal Jo-jo." She answered him, a bit annoyed. Joey blushed at the mention of his pet name and let her go. He crossed his arms and huffed. "Go up to your room." He half ordered half whined. Knowing she had gotten the reaction she was expecting Aarika nodded and smiled sweetly up at him. "Sure thing Jo-Jo." she giggled.

"Shut up and go!" Joey growled, his face beat red.

Meanwhile Corine watched them a smile plastered on her face. Joey gave her a pleading look and she raised an eyebrow. "I didn't know you were a Jo-Jo." she said joining in the fun.

"CORINE."

Aarika grinned feeling a tad better. After five more minutes of this she told them she was going up to do Homework. Joey and Corine smiled and went back to making out on the coach.

Closing the door to her room, Aarika made sure it was locked. She took out her diary and started writing for a few minutes before her phone rang. "Hello?" she answered while laying down on her bed.
