No legacy is as rich as honesty

The next morning was utter chaos for Arya. It took them roughly twenty minutes to find the Great Hall, and that's minus the portrait of a hag telling the girls the wrong route. Luckily, they had made it with enough time spare to eat before classes began. Cora, Aurora and Arya sat down near the middle of the table.

"I've never seen so much food in my life!" Cora exclaimed, eyes wide.

"Yes you have, literally yesterday at the feast," Aurora pointed out.

"You know what I meant, Aurora."

Arya chuckled and placed some scrambled eggs on toast onto her plate. She dug in immediately, and decided there and then that Hogwarts food was a delicacy, arguably better than the dishes Arya was served at the manor.

"What lesson do we have first?"

On cue, a Slytherin prefect handed the girls their timetables. Arya looked hers up and down, looking at who taught the lesson and which house they had it with.

"Transfiguration with McGonagall then Potions with Slughorn," Cora announced.

"Is that the woman from the night before, who read out the names for the sorting?"

"Yeah, it is," Arya replied. "Slughorn is our Head of House, my parents told me."

"We have Potions with the Gryffindors," a girl from across the table said, disgust in her voice.

Arya looked up at her. "Who're you?"

"Lucinda, Lucinda Fallox. We share the same dormitory, remember?"

Arya tried hard to not look disappointed. "Oh, right."

Whether Lucinda heard or ignored the comment, Arya didn't know, as the girl simply continued her rant. "The Gryffindors are all arrogant and obnoxious. My parents have told me about how they fraternize with mudbloods and all that lot. I've heard there is even mudbloods in that house, it's disgusting."

Aurora, Cora and Arya all looked surprised. After all, how could an eleven year old show so much hate?

"I think you ought to calm down," Arya said, carefully choosing her words. "It's just an hour, we don't have double potions until Thursday. Not only that, we share other classes with them, so you should get used to it."

The other Slytherin shot her a glare, and muttered something Arya couldn't work out.

"What are you? A filthy blood traitor?"

Arya let out a humourless laugh.

"Who're you to care?" Cora defended, her eyes narrowed. "We're all Slytherins, so why don't you stop attacking Arya as though she's not?"

"Hmph, whatever you say."

"That's what I thought," Aurora muttered. "C'mon girls, let's go to class."

They rose from the table, only then realising half of the people in the Great Hall had been watching them argue. This didn't surprise them much, it was only the second day and they were already starting arguments, so people were bound to stare. Arya saw that James and Sirius had also noticed, their faces etched with delight, making the girl wonder just how loud they'd actually been.

They exited the Great Hall, asking the portraits for the way to Transfiguration, all of them still annoyed.

"The nerve of that girl!" Cora cried, breaking the silence.

"I know. I can understand her opinions, seeing how I grew up surrounded by the same ones, but that was out of order. Even the other Slytherins were surprised!" Arya replied.
