Your povI start moving boxes into my new apartment. I wipe sweat form my face and plop down on the floor and pick up my phone. I sigh as I dial the number of my best friend Stephen. He said that he has a small YouTube channel with his brother and that he thinks I would like to join them In a video one day. I shake my head as I wait for him to pick up, but I'm left with the answering machine. I put my phone down and look out the window. I decided to get an apartment on the bottom floor in order to make moving easier. I see what seems to be a large bookstore. So I grab my bag, I throw on some warm clothes and head out.
I make my way down to the store and I open the doors. A nice jingle is heard from a small bell above the door. The smell of pages and hot chocolate is smelt. I start taking off my scarf and sit it down on a chair. I do the same with my other things. I walk over to the books and scan them with my eyes, looking for a certain one. I look over and see a small boy struggling to reach a book on the top shelf, I walk over to him and try to pry the book off the shelf. Eventually it falls on his face.
"Oh jeez. Are you okay?" I ask the boy as he picks the book up off the ground. "Yup. I'm okay. Thanks for the help!" He smiles brightly and my eyes shift to his silky smooth looking hair, tied generosity in the back with a blue hair tie. I resist the urge to pet him like a kitten. "What do you use for your hair? It looks very healthy." What the fuck (y/n)? Who asks that? Whatever. He looks over at me and smiles softly. "Well I just use the normal shampoo and conditioner. It's just naturally very soft." He chuckles. I smile and take a look at the book he grabbed. It seems to be a fantasy book about these three people who got caught in this other world and have to find a way out.
I shift my gaze to his hands that hold the book, then back up to his face. "So uh. Your name?" He fumbles with the book and looks back up. "I'm Hosuh. What about you?" "Well, I'm (y/n)! Nice to meet you!" "Heh. That's a cool name. I've never met a (y/n) before! And it's kinda odd considering I work at a cafe." He puts his hand on his chin and chuckles. "What cafe do you work at?" "Just that one on the corner there." He points to a small and cozy looking cafe. "People normally grab a book form here then head over there. So I'm normally very busy all day long. It gong gets worse as the sun sets." He shakes his head and taps the book on his hand. "But I can't ask for a different shift rather then all day cause I'm gonna try and go to collage. And collage means debt and it's petty hard to pay it off working at a coffee shop for minimal wage." For a person I just met, he seems to be pretty social.
"What about you (y/n)? I don't mean to suck you into all my problems. What brings you here?" He asks slightly leaning on a bookshelf as he flicks through the pages. "Well I just moved here. But I'm hoping that I could join my friends YouTube channel to make money. But in the meantime I'm gonna just find some small place to work." I shrug my arms and he looks weirded out. Or at least skeptical. "I'd just get a job if I were you. Having a YouTube channel has many complicated things. It's all about who's getting paid what, how fast you upload, and your money all depends on how many subscribers and likes you have. It's a weird system and if your not working alone can lead to Many off camera fights." He sighs and looks back at me.
I shake my head slightly at the small boy. "How would you know that?" "I had one with a few friends once. Got in a fight about money, and then everything started spiralling downwards. We had just about 2 Million subscribers when it happened and everyone moved on." I sit down on a chair and process all that was just said. One fight? That's all it takes? "It's pretty great otherwise. I think it was just the types of people I had with me." "So you guys had 2 million?! And you just left it? What about-" "we told all of them when our first member quit. He made a video on his channel and we stopped on ours. Eventually I moved on." I sigh as we walks over and sits next to me. Must've been tough, building all that up and then having it completely just crumble to the ground over one fight.
"Sorry I've told you so much." "No it's fine. Maybe we can exchange numbers and keep talking?" "Yeah sure." I take his phone and put his number in it. Then I give it back to him and he sends me a test text. I get it all right so he paid for his book and we bid our farewells. I walk back to my house and my phone buzzes. I pick it up and answer the call, it'd from Stephen. I see he called me back. "Yo (y/n), I just wanna say that we're gonna be doing some fall guys gaming tomorrow if you want to come over. We're doing it for our channel." "Okay sure Stephen! I'll be by tomorrow at 12 okay?" "Make it 11. Gaven is really excited to see you again." "Pft okay." He hangs up and I get an alarm for 7 tomorrow. I still gotta unpack a bit more, so no harm in getting up a little earlier.
