"He's going to Argentina this early?"
"Yeah, he originally planned to leave by the end of the month but unexpectedly, he now has to leave earlier than expected." Iwaizumi explained to his cousin.
Hanako refused to say anything more as she tried to make herself busy. Oikawa Tooru leaving? That's something so hard to believe.
"Y-you should go hang out with him then." The girl stuttered.
Iwaizumi eyed her, he was completely aware that she's still bothered with the breakup and he didn't want to pressure her into forgetting their relationship ever existed. "What about―"
"I'm fine Hajime, I can handle myself." She cut him off. They were packing the girl's things for her to move in Iwaizumi's household. Her parents have decided to sell the house and let her temporarily stay in her cousin's house since she and Hajime soon would be moving to Tokyo for college. Leaving the house unattended would just gather dust.
He lightly hit her head. "Idiot, I was curious if you're going to join me hang out with him."
"Oh." She said, full of thought.
Should I?
I might not be able to handle my emotions, but he still was a childhood friend of mine.
"I can't face him."
Iwaizumi hummed and nod, understanding her reasons. "Ok, I'll be heading out now. I'm coming back later so we could move your things already ok?"
"Sure." The girl plainly said.
The moment her cousin left, fate wanted to play with her. She came across a frame with her, Hajime, and Tooru all messy from playing at the playground.
Oikawa was wearing his favorite yellow short-sleeved hoodie with an alien print, he was playing with a volleyball. Iwaizumi was wearing a muscle tee while holding a net with a long handle. Hanako was wearing a white dress with a floral print, she was holding a bunch of flowers.
They all looked so happy―without a care for the world. They didn't mind the scratches they'd get after playing with twigs, using them as swords and wand.
Hanako smiled at the memory.
Next was a photo of their last year in primary school. Chocolate smudges were all over their mouth, it was a gift of her parents for them.
She remembered how Oikawa gave her his last piece because she accidentally dropped hers. That was when it started, how she got flustered around the boy, and how she always wanted to look cute around him.
The smile soon turned into a sad one. How much they've changed, it frightened her―thinking that once the three of them would part ways in the future their connection would disappear, being busy with their own lives.
All her life, it was all Hajime and Tooru. She was the only girl who got really close with Tooru. Perks of being Hajime's cousin, she guessed.
While Oikawa was volleyball. Everything was about volleyball.
She just wanted those times back, where no one would be crying because of breakups, no one would be leaving for another country, no one would be wishing for everything to be the same just like the past.
Please.
Once she finished packing, she sat on her porch scrolling through her social media. Coming across a post from Watari, she saw how everyone in the volleyball team was present. She was the one emotional for them as a tear slipped from her eye. Hours after this, he's going to the airport.
