He could remember running after you in a field of green. Despite how tiny your legs were, they carried you quite easily.
You laughed cheerfully, in your little white dress that made you seem like an ethereal faerie to him.He could remember how your soft voice called his name, a smile visible on your face whenever you spoke to him.
"Look what I can do!" You proudly announced one day, showing the little boy your palm.He could remember how warm you were. He felt heat radiating off your body as you showed him your hand, a tiny green bump under your skin.
It sprouted and right before his eyes, a small flower bloomed from your body. Beautiful pale yellow ruffled petals and glossy dark green leaves out of your palm, catching the younger boy off guard. You made the boy wonder if you really were a fae after all."My dad said this is my power." You told him, "I made this one for you!" He watched you pluck the flower out of your skin before handing it to him.
The little boy was almost too worried to accept the gift, "It doesn't hurt?" He asked, but despite all his worry the child was ecstatic you made a flower just for him. A bright smile made it's way onto his face.
He could remember how soft your lips felt when you kissed his chubby cheek, "No, your smile took all my pain away!"
The little boy wished he could continue to spend everyday of his life like this, with you. You were both still little children, he wanted you both to grow up together, grow old together. He longed to see you everyday, because whenever he saw your face, every pain he felt seemed to disappear. But, he could still remember how you screamed when the adults tried to take him away. He recalled the tears that ran down your face, the devastated expression you had when you screamed his name. Your shocked face when he mistakenly used his power on his own parent, despite that you still tried to keep him with you.
Even with all your attempts, just like that, you were separated.
He could still remember the empty feeling in his chest for the first few years he was kept under lock and key. Now all he had was resolve to find you, and love you yet again.
"Y/N?" A man called your name, you looked up to be met with your boyfriend of six years. "Those are pretty." He motioned to the bouquet in your hands, a small smile on his face.
"Thank you, Eli." You said, dropping them on your table. "Are you leaving now?"
Your boyfriend, Eli, had strawberry blonde hair that he liked to tie up into a small ponytail and pretty green eyes. His beige skin looked especially beautiful when the sun made him glow like some celestial being.
He was a professional hero, he wasn't popular yet but was one of the most promising rookies, so he barely had time to spend with you in the past four years. Not only did he have to train, but he only acquired his license last year so the poor man had to overwork himself to become well-known. Still, Eli tried his best to make time for your relationship and you appreciated it. Eli walked up and placed a kiss on your forehead, "Yes, I just got called in."
You smiled at his loving gesture, "Is it urgent?" Eli had promised he'd be there for the opening of your little flower shop, you doubted it but never said it out loud. He'd get offended if you did.
"Yes, it has to do with a deviant" He sighed, "I'll make it to your opening though, I promise." At that point you had already tuned him out.
Deviants weren't really criminals, no matter how much people tried to paint them as that. They were usually young children with dangerous powers taken away by the government, kept locked away in cells and 'trained' until they were able to control their powers completely. It was said that they were allowed to join society once they learn control, but you were certain that was just a story made to comfort their family and friends because it barely happens.
Occasionally, deviants would escape and be chased back to their cages by heroes. Escaped deviants were a higher priority than villains. The excuse being they could join forces with villains and other deviants to cause chaos, an example being Brennan, a deviant with the ability to bring utter despair to whoever made eye contact with him for more than five seconds. He was once held in the deviance centre but managed to escape, once he did, he became one of the government's worst nightmares.
"-so you really don't need to worry, I'll be there." Was the only thing you managed to hear before giving your lover a sweet smile. He didn't seem to notice you weren't paying much attention to him, because he smiled back and gave your forehead another kiss. With a wave, Eli walked out the front door of your little shop- which was located right underneath your shared apartment. You went back to attending to your flowers almost instantly- there were only a few more hours before you opened your flower shop.
Your shop was simple. Two tables and various shelves were decorated with flowers, sorted by colours, there was also a loveseat with a small table next to it, in case someone wanted a consultation. The check-out station was at the very end of the room, it was a reception desk decorated with a cute pastel yellow cash register Eli got you as a gift- he had a habit of getting you gifts in his favorite colour and you found it pretty endearing. In the corner behind the check-out area was your flower arrangement station, hidden from view unless your customers were to peek in- which you highly doubted they would. It was spring, so your decorations were almost completely in pastels, you also wouldn't bring flowers from another season unless a customer requested that. You felt it would be unfair to other florists who didn't have a power like yours.
After you were sure everything was set, you glanced at the clock. You had at least two hours to get ready for a new, serene chapter in your life.
